Discipline Purged

There's a Catholic tradition known as Lent. To those unfamiliar, it is a 40 day and night period of fasting that pays tribute the period when Jesus used his powers to fuck desert creatures and do drugs without anyone looking. So usually it's foisted upon children in the following way:
First, we give you a heap of pancakes. Then we tell you "Okay, Billy. You need to stop doing something now." For most kids this ended up being ice cream or candy corn or cutting down on the TV watching. For me it meant doing those things more sneakily.

I never properly completed a single Lent fasting, so I thought I may as well try one last time, the Tao De Ching has helped. I've removed fast food, video games, cigarettes, drinking more than a day in a row, soda, television and cursing (kind of).

It has been mindbendingly easy. Except the cigarettes, I'm still tempted to go smoke those but haven't. I'm reading and writing and going more places and generally distancing myself from anything with a screen for longer than an hour a day, if that. I also gave up Facebook. I don't know if any of you care but not a one was removed from my friends list with malicious intent. I just genuinely don't want people to have access to my information the way that site allows them to.

Oh, and now I work for the government making casings for things I'm not allowed to say what they are.
