1963November 1963 was one of the most important months in (fairly) recent history. On Friday the 22nd of November, John F Kennedy, President of America was assassinated while travelling though Dallas, Texas.
But overshadowing that completely was the fact that the following day, the first ever episode of Doctor Who was released, which of course completely changed the world; Doctor Who is the longest running science fiction series in history, putting anything those yanks have produced to shame. This reduced the mother of my best friend to tears because she'd waited in terror all week to find out what had happened to the noble TARDIS crew, only to have to watch the first episode a second time. And from there, the Daleks were only four weeks away... |
