I might actually donate to this.

But i can't help but feel that predators will only adapt to this. Like maybe just switch the cup and or straw. It least this will make it more difficult though.

A decent idea - I take it the plan is to get venues to start handing these out? I don't see many people wanting to take their own cups or straws with them when going out partying unless they've already been a victim of this or take it seriously enough - But at least it's a solution of sorts and a definite step in the right direction.

These already exist as little dipsticks that you can buy. Why would turning them in to cup/straw form be more useful?

99% of date rape victims are already too sloshed off their asses to question the motives of the horny fratboys slipping them a cup of spiked Cristal.

This feels like another one of those things that can be completely avoided by just being a tiny bit responsible. Such products are already available, as Nate pointed out, and I'd wager that most victims of date rape are stupid young people with a YOLO attitude who attend these parties knowing full-well they're going to be cramming themselves with chemicals that may or may not be tampered with and take little to no precaution.

Actually, you've just convinced me that it might be a good idea. If bars used these glasses for all their customers, they'd act as a passive indicator. That way, drunk and/or trusting women would be warned in situations where they wouldn't have thought to use the swizzle stick.

Especially if they become widespread that they become normal enough that people see a glass that's changed colour and alert the bar staff or the person who owns the drink that it's been spiked...

The situations aren't really the same at all. Driving is a necessity that comes with risk, and the responsibility still falls on the driver to actually wear a seat belt which many - observably - do not.

Bike helmets on the other hand are totally optional. At least where I live.

This is a good point, though I don't know how often women are slipped date rape drugs in bars, it's a bit too conspicuous of a setting. It's usually at unregulated college parties and the like.
