It's the time of year were I get to sit with my giant, over-sized net to catch trick or treaters.

Halloween is pretty shit though. Fucking kids knocking on my fucking door. I don't want to give you candy so fuck off.

I'm going to put a troll face on my door, and if they still knock I'll play the trololol song from inside until they go away.

I have nothing better to do so it should be fun.

Eh, it's a bit of fun for some kids, it doesn't really bother me much. Not too fussed about it now.

We don't celebrate that in Poland. Church says it's the biggest satanistic holiday, and by innocent-looking "trick or treats" we'd teach our kids agression and ruthlessness.

Halloween is one of the best holidays, if not THEE best holiday, ever. It's my fucking christmas. Carving pumpkins, eating candy, hanging out with friends and watching scary movies. It's a fucking good time.

I eat sweets whenever I want though, I don't let a holiday dictate when I eat chocolate, damn. I also hang out with my friends pretty much every day, as for watching films, again I do that most weeks. Why should I do what I do with the additional threat of snot nosed kids walking onto my property? Gonna spend the night with the lights off, hiding from the fuckers, same as every year.

It's holiday recognized by the entire nation as a time for monsters, freakshows, bad habits, and costumes. What's not to like? Maybe I just like it because I enjoy macabre things more than the average person. I went to our local amusement park last night and the entire thing was remade as one mile-long spookhouse. To me, that is as good as life gets.

So forgive me for despising you wet noodles who hate Halloween.

It's a different world. To me, the idea of getting totally pissed and acting like a bunch of loud buffoons with your stupidity-enabling friends is the exact opposite of a good time for me, yet this is apparently the agreed-upon "good time" for nearly everyone in my generation, including Anthony here.

I actually do enjoy getting wankered with my mates on occasion, it gives me a chance to get some respite from the shitty world and just relax and not worry about things. However I also enjoy sitting at a cafe with a nice coffee and a few close friends for a chat, as I will be doing tomorrow. It's about moderation. I have no interest whatsoever in the childish pursuits of Halloween, I never have done and I probably never will. I don't have much of a problem with anyone who does like it because for all I know they're indulging in the holiday (if you can call it that) for the same reason I have the occasional piss up, I just wish they'd stay the fuck away from my house.

Like STM said, Halloween isn't the only time you can eat sweets. It's like pancake day. Who the fuck came up with pancake day?

I don't like sweets anyway, and as for scary things, the scariest thing halloween can usually throw at you is a bad ghost costume, so that's why I dislike halloween.

Basically, I could get my cousin to come round, we'd get pissed and watch a ton of horror films. That would be ten times better than halloween.

Halloween is pretty cool if only because it gives you an excuse to scare the ever loving shit out of other people in a costume without the usual social repercussions. Going out in costume any other time of the year will make people think you're either nuts, or on your way to a convention. Or both, in some instances.

My family dragged me to an event last night with some 5 or so haunted houses/corn mazes. I can't fathom how they can scare anyone, but when you go in with people who are too easily frightened it makes the entire thing so worth your time. Some kid in one of the groups was trying to act like a badass and wet himself when a girl dressed as a doll jumped out of a box. Got a good laugh out of it.

Halloween is fun. Halloween and Christmas are the only two festive holidays I buy into because the spirit of both is just so fun.

... it does sound pretty dumb. Like Sausage Day or something.* Thank goodness there's religious significance behind it or we'd have to explain ourselves.

I'm ambivalent towards Hallowe'en because no-one's invited me to a Hallowe'en party since I was eight.

*Oh wait, that's the 2nd of July.

I sort of agree with Sekto. Holidays like this are excuses to highlight a certain day and do something you don't normally do, which makes it extra special. Besides, you don't have to follow the exact tradition, you can make the day your own and do whatever you like.
