An Important Announcement

The first series is the best. It gets to about the fourth series, and deteriorates, in my opinion, becoming less believable. I thought the mundanity of the first series was its strongest point, and I thought the characters were funnier, because they hadn't been so strongly exaggerated. Dale suffered the most, I think.

With regards to Todd, hadn't heard of her before this. I'm sorry she felt pressured to kill herself, but it seems to me she was the origin of some of her problems. As a teenager, I think she was clearly just unequipped to adequately deal with them.

King of the Hill is amazing.

Reminds me of the time I was on a plane flying in to San Antonio, Texas and was chatting with the guy in the next seat. I mentioned that this was my first time in Texas, but that I had been in California, New York and a few places in New England. He commended me for coming to Texas and informed me that now I would be seeing 'Real America'. He added "I mean, those places are all America, but they're not real America".

Every time a foreigner tells me they know America as well as an American, I can't help but cock my head like a confused Pug. You don't actually know shit, no matter what you think. Just like I don't actually know shit about where you live, and I won't pretend like I do.

King of The Hill is, for all intents and purposes, a perfect pastiche of American humor blended with also very-American sitcom absurdity. Unless you've lived here, grown up on our TV, and been around those same kind of people you will never fully appreciate it, whether you like it or dislike it.

Then why should you rail against people for not liking KotH? Why should you encourage people to watch a show if you're just going to sneer and say "You didn't really get it" when the episode's over?
