Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner makes his final preparations for a record-breaking skydive from 23 miles above the planet. Baumgartner will take off in an adapted weather balloon and fly to the edge of space before jumping from his capsule. Flying faster than the speed of sound, he aims to break the 52-year-old height record set by Joe Kittinger

So this will be a massive feat of the human body, Baumgartner will experience hitting the sound barrier with no protection other than his space suit, at some point in the descent he will hit Mach 1 and by this point, he'll be falling faster than a conventional jet. The strain on him must be enormous, apparently he's aiming to land in the New Mexico desert if everything goes according to plan. Baumgartner will be falling from the middle of the stratosphere, at this height only bacteria and the highest flying birds can exist for any extended period of time.
So what do we think? Is he gonna make it or splat like a pancake?
