Something different

Posted 07-31-2012 at 05:37 PM by MeechMunchie
The original plan for this blog was to have a good vent and express the various confusing and contradictory themes currently squirming their way through my unfinished adolescent psyche like that robot worm thing from the start of The Matrix.

Then it became a blog about why I wouldn't, or perhaps couldn't, do that.

Then it became yet another analysis of my relationship with you, dear forums, as my most regular and widespread influence over my teenage years.

Then it became a mass of all that, and why I couldn't even seem to write a coherent blog any more. But forget that. Draw a line under it; I'm not quite sure why I even left all that in. Look, I'll draw a line now. This bit never existed.
__________________________________________

Preamble aside (dammit) I realised that despite treating you with more trust and respect than my biological family, it wasn't really fair to just dump my thoughts here. Nobody wants to read that, even if you like the person. It's just impersonal garbage. So, I'll try and give you something you do want to know.

Ask me anything.

Seriously, any question, and I'll answer honestly and to the best of my ability, until this blog gets knocked off the front page.

Have fun.

I don't see the point in caring. It's less confusing all around to adhere to the cultural norm in terms of placement, and anyone who is offended by it should be punched in the face for being a pretentious cunt who likes being special.

I'm not offended, it's just a pet peeve.

I'd be just as annoyed if I heard a Japanese person talking about our dumb prime minister Kameran Deibidu.

And why are "pet" peeves called that?

Because they're something that only the owner cares about.

WRONG, it is because of the adaptation of the human language due to cultural influences!

I didn't mean you, WoF. I meant a scenario like a Japanese person going to England, and correcting every single person who reverses the order to the cultural norm. If that person actually cared that much about their name, which is really just a way we created to tell each other apart when the person isn't around, and is as significant as a number, well that person needs to stop caring so much about their precious little ass, and grow the fuck up. I really hope that the scenario I described has never happened.

Taking so long to get over my shyness. Your social interactions in your early years determine your base attitude and confidence for pretty much the rest of your life; If I hadn't been such a pussy back then, I might have ended up a crowd-surfing superstud today.

:
What's your least favourite taste and most favourite smell?
The aftertaste of raw tomato; and air at night after it's rained during the day, respectively.

Carefully make a dildo out of dark chocolate. That's rich and black, and the protectiveness you'll feel towards your new penis is pretty much what being a guy is all about.

:
Should I eat the blue pill, or your legs?
The former, unless the blue pill is a "Growing-Legs-Back" pill; in which case you can do the latter, and I'll have the pill.

But what if the blue pill caused everyone to turn blue?

Imagine that 90% of the male population one day spontaniously disappeared. Try and analyze how society would react from the impact, and how it would move on... Obstacles and how they'd be overcome. And most of all, what would society look like after?

Now do it again, but where 90% of the females disappear instead of the males.

Based on these two analyses, what is your conclusion?

Then you'd have to eat it, and everyone would have to be blue. I don't want to lose my legs.

Firstly, global panic, apart from lesbians who would be delighted.

Warfare would grind to a halt since most servicemen are... well, men. As a result, international tensions would increase, since every country would suddenly be a lot more vulnerable. We might see a return to conscription for a while.

Gays would be, to invoke a sterotype, in tears. Apart from the loss of companionship, the pressure on remaining men to "do their duty" and offer themselves to girls would make coming out ten times harder for closet-dwellers.

As women would now be the dominant franchisees, previously patriarchal things such as the Catholic church and televised sports might have to reconsider their positions. Naturally, there'd be massive progression for feminism as women took to all the seats of power. Subtle things like attitudes to self-image would improve without male objectification.

Men, on the other hand, would be in much higher demand... expect to see an appropriate lowering in standards, and some bloody ugly babies. As a limited resource, they'd naturally become a status symbol for any aspiring woman, and the common perception of men as emotionally shallower than women would probably lead to them becoming some kind of accessory; to be dressed up and spoken for like a rich girl's spoiled chihuahua, and guarded carefully when not taken out to high-society functions - arm locked firmly into the woman's, of course.

An appropriately devious man, on yet another hand, might be able to carve out a career whoring himself out to the media, lending his presence to celebrities, and giving an "authentic male perspective" on events. Speaking of which, actual male whores would see a big rise in business.

BM would probably like me to point out the massive drop in genetic diversity that comes with any sudden reduction of a breeding population, which might mean a spike in the occurence of genetic disorders over the next few decades, though sperm banks and artifical insemination would make this trivial to solve.

Business would shift. Apart from the immediate loss of almost half their consumers, marketing to men specifically would be a high-risk venture, and many male-oriented shop chains would go under. Those which could, would alter their products to meet the new demographic. Women tend to be more interested in shopping (It's true!), so the high street would be fairly unchanged... just expect to see a few boarded-up fishing suppliers.

China would go completely mental. There'd probably be a revolution due to one-child policy and the further-increased significance of a male heir, which would be interesting as the only populist uprising against a communist regime I can think of.

And finally, all spreads and condiments would have to be sold in bottles, as women are unable to open jars on their own.

:
Now do it again, but where 90% of the females disappear instead of the males.
This one is a lot simpler, and far more gruesome. Men are greedy, competitive, territorial things.

Rape. Slavery. Women and girls traded like cattle.

It'd be a full-on dystopia; Reproduction becomes a privilege for only the powerful and wealthy; The female gender becomes a commodity, their human rights either ignored or brushed aside with utilitarian claims of greater benefit. A Handmaid's Tale comes to mind.

The global reproduction rate would drop to 10% of what it was, if not less due to the coddling and isolation of women. Male foetuses would likely be aborted as females are now in China... with the same prospect of forced abortions hanging low over womens' heads. Again, their bodies would be seen as either public or private property - for the good of humanity or the bourgeois respectively - but never their own.

Despite the neccessity, a female child would be something of a curse, constantly under the threat of male predation. Some might be expected to hand over their children willingly to convents or "ladies' schools" - corporatised, rebranded human trafficers with maybe a basic finishing school element for a... God, I feel sick just typing this... "higher-class product". The chances of abuse would still be high, but probably better than a girl trying to survive in the 'real world'.

The richest and most influential might be able to buy their daughters a better life, relatively speaking. Isolated female-only communities, locations strictly secret, would keep the female spirit alive while the world collapsed around them. Or above them. Underground seems like a good place to hide people.

With no mates to call their own, the male populace would become more possessive and agressive in defense of everything else they own. Without the traditionally calming presence of a loving partner, everyone but gays will become far more bitter, angry people. Violence increases, riots increase, wars increase, and the death toll increases along with it. It's not long before the anger makes it to those with their fingers on the big red buttons, and soon we're looking at some kind of global civil war, a product of social unrest rather than any specific resource; though some of the conflicts, no doubt, will be over neighbouring provinces' supplies of precious, precious women.

In fact, I doubt the killing would end until the male and female populations were equal again. At which point these new men will make themselves known, so tired of bloodshed and violence, and, having fought so long and hard simply to meet and connect with them, so unspeakably appreciative of the women who went through so much. Ideas of rape and manipulation driven from their minds by the scars of war and the crushing realisation of just how important these women are, they will march side by side with the women; out into a grey, empty, broken world.

Hopefully their civilisation will work out a bit better than the last one. Then again, hopefully they won't have irresponsible Danish girls playing God this time.

:
Based on these two analyses, what is your conclusion?
Well in either case, we'd see a natural evening of the gender split over the next few centuries, though due to the "one at a time" nature of pregnancy the world would take longer to recover from the loss of females - if it ever recovered at all. There's always the chance that humans would just go extinct, something I'm sure the Earth would welcome.

On the flip side, both would provide humanity with a second chance against overpopulation, having set the clock back to about 4 billion.

Okay, maybe just the one where the guys get vaporised.

To me, these visions showed that women have a... slightly better grasp of gender politics than men. But both are important, we should just treat each other with respect. The world wouldn't really work without either.

Okay, the world wouldn't work without women.
