Don't you hate it when people post obnoxious text at the top of their blog and you have to scroll past it every time you want to read what they've posted? Man, I really hate that.

I'm going to Romania and also I don't like you

Actually, I don't know why I wrote the second half of that title.


I'm going on a mission trip to Romania for two weeks to help 4 other Brits and an undisclosed number of Romanians run a pair of holiday camps for a total of 60 children aged 9-10/11-12. I leave tomorrow.

Goodbye 6-month-long British Autumn and hello European Heatwave! (I'm gonna die!)

It was fun because the friend who I'm going with lost his passport less than a week ago and spent three days frantically searching and trying/failing to get hold of the Emergency Passport people before it finally turned up. Oh, how we laughed!

Anyway, packing is occurring and I'm trying to clear years of junk off of my camera.

And I saw the new Batman film this afternoon. I really enjoyed it but the friend I saw it with said that comic readers wouldn't like it so much. But I thought it was great.

How did you get involved with Mission work? Do you have to pay your way to Romania yourself?

Have a good trip and enjoy your stay! These days, it's not really about heat waves around here. One week, it's hot, the other is spent with storms and rain. Bearable.

Way to encourage a friend before going to country he hasn't been to before. :P Relying on experience, I can say that it is not a land of theft. Although trains tend to disappear, despite them being in the schedule last time you checked at home, but most of the time it is probably just some international miscommunication...

How did you get involved with Mission work? Do you have to pay your way to Romania yourself?
I have a friend who went last year; he's travelling with me now. He told me about it and got me involved. He in turn was told about it by a friend who has been very involved with the charity for several years.
I was asked to pay my way, though had I not been able to they would have supported me to an extent. It is a charity... My Granddad died about a year ago and gave me some money before that, which I think he'd be happy to see going to this cause, and my friend did a fundraiser to earn part of his needs.

Journey has been fairly easy-going so far, though Heathrow confiscated my shampoo and suntan lotion to stop me using them to blow up a plane, though they were kind enough to leave my my hand sanitizer and my toothpaste, so I was able to use them to blow up the plane.

Temperature is a mild 32C which is a slight adjustment from England's 6-month-long Autumn. Aw snap, I already made that joke.
