GLQuake problem.

Posted 06-26-2012 at 04:16 PM by Spooce-aholic
I have a physical copy of Quake 1 and I became tired of playing Quake 1 in software mode so I decided to try to get GLQuake working on my computer.

In order to change the resolution in GLQuake, you have to change it via the command line. Instead of having to open Command Prompt every time I want to play GLQuake at a different resolution, I made a Batch file with Notepad++ that would run GLQuake at my monitor's resolution when ever I double click it.

Unfortunately, whenever I open GLQuake using Command Prompt or a Batch file to change it's resolution, the game crashes immediately with an error message saying something like "GLQuake.exe has stopped working."

I can open GLquake via double clicking it, using Command Prompt, or using a Batch file without changing the resolution and it will work fine.

My OS is Windows 7 (Professional) (64-bit).

I recommend using nQuake. It's really easy.

It installs ezQuake and lots of maps, textures etc.

@Phylum The graphics are very different. I would prefer the nostalgia of GLQuaked. After playing that for a while, I may try out nQuake.

@Chubfish What are you talking about?

I'm fairly sure if you lower the resolution, use default textures and turn the AA filters off it will looks just like GLQuake.

Are you sure it isn't possible to get GLQuake to work?

Edit: I heard that it is possible to fix the problem by going to the Nvidia control panel and setting the "extension limit" option to "on". IDK where to find that option though.
