It depends where you live though, I used to get quite a lot of letters from my schools years ago telling people to keep out of the way of certain people in the area.
I don't get that too often now, because I have since moved location (not primarily because of the letters).

Okay to start with, what Oddhunter said. Child molestors generally have a different psychology altogether from normal rapists and have very different preying habits. If most rape victims know their rapist then the same is true of children knowing their rapist to about the 90%-95% line.

Secondly, I just plain don't understand what you're saying. Nobody ever ever ever would ever ever ever say that a child being the victim of child abuse was ever ever ever the fault of child unless you're a member of the Catholic church. We do not have a 'child molestor culture' where the responsibility of the act is placed on the child, we have a culture where not only the responsibility of the act, but also of the desire is placed on the adult. There's no sense in equating what society thinks about a raped woman and a molested child because the cases are entirely different.

So, saying 'I shouldn't have to worry about pedophiles at night' is a fucking stupid thing to say. It's a thoughtless objection based on a pretty huge misconception of your own circumstances. You're right. You shouldn't have to worry about pedophiles at night. But you don't.

Here’s the thing: if I’m out alone at night, I worry about getting mugged, or stabbed, or attacked, or worse. Is it likely? No. Am I a likely target of this kind of crime? No – I don’t make a lot of enemies, I don’t carry a lot of valuables that would make me attractive to a mugger, I don’t dress or act in a manner that would make me look like someone worth attacking.

But do I still worry? Yes, because it could happen. There is always the chance, however small, that someone will take me as someone worth attacking for whatever reason. Does that make me narcissistic? I don’t believe so.

So how is it narcissistic for this woman to be worried about being raped if she goes out at night? Even ignoring the fact that this is a comic that is likely generalizing and she is not actually terrified of leaving her house when it gets dark, it is still a valid concern for her, because she is female.

The reason I asked to clarify your definition of narcissism up front is that right now, your post really reads to me that you think she must be vain and conceited to be worried about being raped – as if she believes she has some value that makes her a more likely target. And to me, that reads like you are saying “she must think she’s sexy if she thinks she’s going to get raped”.

I'm not saying that's the reason women get raped. You're confusing the argument a little. I'm investigating her reasons for thinking she is going to be raped. Not the reasons why women actually do get raped. It doesn't even get dark at 6:00. The world is full of bustling activity for another three hours. Instances of people being pulled off the street for a raping are extremely rare. So, why is she so sure it's going to happen to her? It's clearly irrational. So, is it that she's stupid enough to believe her own fake statistics, and knows three girls who haven't been raped so just assumes she's next on the list? Is it that she has a phobia of being raped, which would completely destroy her argument as that proves her fear is irrational? Or does she just think she's so hot that every man must want her? I mean, in the comic she refers to herself as hot while crying. WHILE CRYING. Clearly this is an issue for her.

Look, again I need to point that you are mistaking the argument. The argument isn't about whether or not the issues are real. The argument here is that this comic is manipulative, and that this type of manipulation harms the cause of women. I don't think the points can be made without sounding confrontational, shrill etc. Feminism is like athiesm in that respect: it's the message that ticks people off one way or another but they blame the tone instead.

Equal rights is not the same as equality. Equal under the law is one thing, equal in the culture is another entirely, and so long as that is a problem then there is still a problem. Women still routinely make less than men in the same fields all over, and still advance slower than their male colleagues. A legal issue can be fixed by legislation (or put there deliberately if you live in a red state). But a cultural one is on everybody, which is why the campaigns target ordinary people instead of politicians. People don't like being told that their believes and attitudes are harmful to half of the human race, which might account for their hostility.

An important point is that the caricature of feminism is not feminism. Man-hating is not feminism, that's misandry. Special treatment is not feminism, though it can often seem like it when the non-equal norm is so ingrained. Feminism is gender-equality, and it does work both ways. But historically women have always needed to make up more ground than men, and still do.

The only inequalities that I'm aware of for woman is that they can get certain jobs in the military. For men, they stay in prison longer than woman and aren't treated as fairly when they commit a crime or go to court.

Until two years ago, feminists at my university's society wouldn't allow male members and jeered out any transgender/transsexual members. They were forced to change policy by the university in order to reflect equality.

I need statistics here, but I'm far too lazy to go look for them. The pay gap will be gone someday, but you can't simply get rid of it with a single law.
