This is so insane. One minute I'm at work checking my email. The next I'm just sitting there in shock at my desk. I'm so glad they are doing this on such short notice, too. If it were a month or so away I think the anticipation would fucking kill me.

When you said "forum" I immediately assumed this one. I imagined that you had somehow deceived them into believing that this place is big and relevant and you a hotshot within it. Half true.

I sincerely how that when OWI/JAW next release something Big 'n' New that they have a party and invite OANST. I think it would be hilarious to see him either pretend to not be cynical about Oddworld, or (even better) to be cynical and see what happens next.

I just had a thought: please find whoever manages their website and browbeat him/her until s/he agrees to make it less painful to read old news posts.

I actually don't really know if I was chosen at random or not. I just sort of assumed it. In the initial email they said they would talk to me more about why I was chosen when I get there. That wording alone made me believe it was a scam. I can't tell you how in shock I was when I finally realized that it wasn't.

Here's the initial email that I got:

We would love to fly you out to the Double Fine offices in San Francisco next Wednesday, May 23, to meet Ron and witness the official unveiling of his new project. You’re the only community member we’ve invited, and this is a fairly small event primarily for our friends in the press, so it’s a pretty unique opportunity and we hope you can come! As for how you ended up on the receiving end of this, we can explain once you’re out here.

We know this is pretty short notice, so we would understand if it’s not possible. But hopefully it is! Let us know as soon as you can.

Agreed. My love for them has skyrocketed. I've never even been on a plane before, and now I'm being flown out to see the new Double Fine game simply because they are so fucking awesome.

How long is the trip? Are they putting you up somewhere?

Another thing that tells me this is definitely for real is that they contacted me at my work email, which is the email I used to set up my main account. I gave them my personal email to use for contacting me in the future, which is the email tied to my backer account. When I went on their website today, my accounts were consolidated so my main account is now also my backer account.

Wil, they are putting me up in a hotel, but I am still waiting to hear back on all the specifics. I assume I will only be there for two days.
