Actually I have saved them all before. It was one of the greatest feeling I've ever had.

However, I have yet to save them all on Oddysee It's just too darn hard.

YES! Yes! That is the exact same problem I had! Always three! Three annoying mudokons that weren't anywhere! And like me, you'll probably be haunted by always wondering where those last three were, because on your last playthrough you didn't notice yourself doing anything different than before! Years from now you'll wake up bathed in a cold sweat thinking, "But where were they, and why did I never save them before..."

That is, if you're like me.

I used to miss 4. When I got them all, I did not at any point discover a secret I was not familiar with or anything. I have absolutely no idea what I missed.

But then it's been a long time, and my memory crumbles like chalk.

I've never rescued them all either. Maybe if there was a better save system...

Good grief, you guys too? I played through it twice in a short space of time, getting... I think 298 each time. Then the next time I got all 300 without saving (I swear) any that I didn't the previous times.

I almost always get 298 at the end of Exoddus. Bugs the crap out of me.

My only guess can be that there are some somewhere that you walk past with the intention of saving after completing the puzzle up ahead, and then forget about. I get them all every time I play through it now without any particular trouble.
Except when I try for the mega-bad ending.

yup, agreed with you guys, when I played through it, saving all 300, I never figured out what secret i missed, either what splat said, about having the intention of saving them later and then forgetting, or probably just because its a pretty big game and you forget which ones you missed. anyway, like crashpunk, i still havent saved all 99 in AO, its the secrets, some of them are solid!
