I fucking hate screen recorders.

The program I've been using to record AE for my LP has messed up yet again. This time the video sometimes speeds up or slows down making it all of the recording out of sync.

Anyone who is interested, I'm using Hypercam. I heard it was great for recording Oddworld but I just keep having so many problems with it. Anyone know of any reasons why this keeps happening or can think of a better recorder?

Do PC specs really have anything to do with it? I just thought I was choosing wrong options or something.

I think it has something to do with the frames per second. I did choose 60 because that seemed like the best quality.

I used Hypercam 2 and my Exoddus walkthrough is one of the most watched walkthroughs so far (yet I am too lazy to complete it) so don't be hating it.

First off, what are your PC's specs? I can record at 30 fps fine (and youtube doesn't output higher than 30 anyway).

Secondly, what codec are you using? Shitty codecs will make the video go out of sync usually.

Thirdly, if the video speeds up or slows down then it could be the player itself, but if not, does it do this in any other media player? Have you changed any settings?

Can you post your hypercam settings here or pm me them? I could probably help.

I know of other recorders but I want to see if I can fix your hypercam problem first.

Just buy a dazzle and record it off your Playstation. They're a bit pricy but I hear they work like a dream.

I used Camstudio to record Oddworld as well, and it worked fine for me.

Why is the first half of your comment fine but the second riddled with spelling, grammatical and capitalisation errors?

Also, I was playing around with CamStudio and Minecraft recently and it seemed to work fine apart from only recording at 15FPS, but my computer's not particularly great.

It's "naive afterthought", one of the Four Tones of Capitalisation, along with "Normal", "UNPUNCTUATED RAGE" and the lesser-known "This Is An Important Concept".

That's not exactly true, it should work with some directx/ogl based 2D games, but unfortunately, I'm talking mostly about newer games

Well after help from Chubfish, I've got it all set up working fine.

Turns out I really don't need to record at 60 FPS.

What? Fraps records whatever you want it to? If it can record your desktop it should be able to record any other application.

Fraps records any opengl game usually so i disagree DarkHood.

Oh right, I didn't even know there was an option to make it monitor the desktop. So yep, disregard my earlier post 'cause I'm wrong.

There isn't a way to make Fraps film AO or AE though. Unless... *thinks*
