I saw a pretty disgusting video of crowds of North Koreans being forced to sob waves of tears for their "beloved" ruler. Even in death, he has ensured his people will be underfoot.

I highly doubt anyone got paid with money. They were paid with an extra day of not being shot in the back for dissension.

I'm surprised that they actually announced Jong-Il's death, given that his dad Kim Il-Sung is still alive, immortal and awaiting the right moment to return and lead North Korea to world domination. Clearly Kim Jong-un is less of a pussy than his dad was.

The US won't go to war with North Korea. There's nothing there that we want.

That's if North Korea shows any evil plans. The EU and England are always to fucking slow to act if there was any plans or attacks.

You have to realise that before anything happens with foreign involvement, they gotta sort out their own ruddy internal affairs out. If Kim's son can't set up a personality cult or at least survive on his father's name for long enough, the power vacuum between the Workers Party and the military could well erupt in a civil war. And then even more of those poor North Korean civilians will get merc'd.

There's already room for potential tension as it hasn't been decided if the throne will go to his son or his step-son. It's his son's familial right to take the throne, but his step-son is a real go-getter (in all of the worst ways).

Some are worried that Kim's son won't be any good at his job. So there could be a civil war. And then it's all about who takes sides.

Given the disgusting state of things in NK, I wouldn't be surprised to learn Kim was actually Nurgle in human form.

North Korea had a financial crisis (oh, one of those things) when the Soviet Union ended, and the Diabolical Dictator Kim got paranoid and focussed most of the country's money into creating an army that is, frankly globally impressive. Sadly, this was at the expense of most of the population of North Korea who probably weren't too worried at the thought of other countries coming to bully them and just wanted to have enough food to last them to the end of the week, which they didn't.

Unless Kim Jung Junior can get a firm grip on power, the country will likely have a civil war, as has been said. And Kim Jung Il has left behind some pretty nasty, powerful people. Really my hope is that whatever comes next, North Korea will find itself with a leader who actually cares about the people he rules, rather than a paranoid maniacal control-freak.

Ideally it would be the case but no one knows better than what their lives are like now and power corrupts, I doubt there's anyone with the potential of grabbing power that is interested in the people. That being said no one knows what things are like in the DPRK at the moment.

And when you do find out on the news. Some of the info that goes out to the world can be scripted. And where the last to find out. Because by the time we find out. Everyone in NK and SK know what's going on.
