Hm, watched a few episodes and didn't hate it...
I didn't like it either...
Does this mean I have a neutral feeling towards it? I don't know since I've only seen about 3 episodes. I just didn't think much of it to be honest.

I watched the first episode and enjoyed it. Surprisingly, for a children's TV programme the voice acting and the story aren't that cheesy despite how it would seem so. However I don't see why it has become a meme. It's good, but not that good.

People are fucking stupid and will jump on any mildly trendy bandwagon. It starts with one person being open-minded or individual, then it spreads until people feel obligated to like it from peer pressure.

Let's just not discuss it anymore. Those who actually like it, they like it. Those who don't, they don't like it.

I've never seen it. The meme is odd and I strive to keep my head above the tide; I do not know if my MANliness would survive my failure.

They are fucking talking coloured ponies. It is a child's show, for children. Fuck the 'adult themes', fuck the being indie by watching it. I haven't watched a single second of my own accord and I never intend to.

I like it, but it has nothing to do with /b/. I don't actually think I've ever visited /b/ in my life. Or 4chan for that matter.

Why are you even still talking about it?

I saw one or two episodes. And a bunch of little clips. I was surprisingly amused, and it was a lot better than I would have expected. I don't think I'd ever go so far as to say I love the show, or hate it, but I'd certainly have little against seeing it.

I have vague memories of the old series from the '80s or so. I only caught glimpses of it back then, it didn't appeal to me, didn't watch it. I don't know much about this new stuff, except how big of a meme it became, and I don't feel the need to find out more.

The difference between the old cartoons and Friendship is Magic is approximately the difference in quality between cookie cutter adapted-for-cartoon shit of the 60's-80's and Cartoon Network originals of the 90s.

I'm actually more sick of the people who constantly hate the show/fanbase than the show and its fans themselves. If people like it, let them watch it. No need to bitch about it.

Basically, Crashpunk, all of those nerds who pick through every single show on Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon to find decent things worth watching for normal people came across a show that is produced, written and marketed for 4 year old girls (it airs on the preschool channel up in Canada, because we're sane.) and decided they would latch onto it like ineffectual, sad little leeches.

It's not some super secret, turns-out-to-be-great gem of television. It's literally to teach little babies that Friendship is Magic, the name is literal. I don't hold anything against the show itself, but for people (oh hey, like Wings up there) to compare it to Dexter's Lab or Samurai Jack is an utterly baffling and untrue statement. It's made by some of the people who were involved in the production of those shows, but that by no means is an indicator that it is comparable in quality or entertainment value to them. It's a piteous and deformed waste of a fad.

tl;dr it's the event horizon of Manchildren, just ignore it.

It can never be compared to Samurai Jack. That is just genius.

For a young girl, there's no finer programme.

For adult men, there ought to be something better for you to do.

Implying the quality of work has anything to do with the demographic it's aimed at.

Seseme Street was for pre-schoolers, and I dare anyone to tell me that wasn't fun until they changed it a few years ago.

I think Sesame Street is plenty of fun, myself. When my 8 and 5 year old cousins visit, I'll watch it with them because they make it appreciable. I didn't realize it was possible to become 'jaded' to Sesame Street, either. Since it's y'know, fucking Sesame Street.

And Quality of work? It's a flash animated, bright neon conglomeration of overtly girly writing and thematic bits an pieces that are so straightforwardly bright and shiny that the only thing more tepid and plain is the contrastingly tarded the 'YOUR SOUL IS FILLED WITH MAGICAL DEMON DARKNESS' plot from Megaman Battle Network 4 and 5. It is a commercial, Joe. You can yammer about quality all you want, but all people should see is a big, cheaply animated Toy commercial.

I see nothing wrong with liking a girly children's show. I like plenty of manly things, why should I be hated for this one pleasure?

Because the illusionary cloud of quality that stagnates any watcher's opinion is a completely deluded fabrication?

And really, you can like it all you'd like. I can't fault you for liking it at all. I'm sure you have fun watching it. Good on you.
I can, however, fault someone for being misleading about why I should like like it, or what indicates that it's as good as they say it is. Because it's not. It's a toy commercial for babies.

Again, implying merchandising shows can't be good.

I'm not saying it was a work of art, I'm saying I like it for what it was. Which, I'll agree, is a lot better than hating it for what it isn't/

Being a fan of Transformers as I was, I can honestly say that merchandising is typically detrimental. And again, it's ponies, and the nigh-intolerable fandom that has sprung up around it has certainly put how people like it into stark contrast with why they actually like it, so fair enough.
