Alcohol

Posted 11-09-2011 at 09:32 PM by Mudokon_Master
Yes I'm 14. I need to get pissed somewhere this weekend. I don't ever drink at all and I know it's bad for you. I just had the shittiest day today and I'm under a bit of stress. Nothing too bad but this afternoon I got in a fight with my mum about stupid little stuff and all I want now is to drink alcohol. I went downstairs but there was no beer in the fridge down there and I seriously want it!
It's like I'm a completely different person. I've always been dead set against all alcohol and now I crave it.
I don't even know why I'm writing this blog, I don't even know the purpose but I just felt like getting it out there that I want alcohol. It will probably make me feel better.

Dont drink to run away from problems... They'll just be there when you're sober again.

I think I like Jenny's idea. But maybe I'll stay away from the alcohol for now.

You need to find another way to ease your problems instead of alcohol. You're 14 years old, and however bad your circumstances may be, drinking is not the option because it could create a habit for you in the future to use alcohol if something bad happens.

Just drink bitch beer. Peach Schnapps and Smirnoff Ice. Satisfy your alcoholic cravings without getting totally pissed.

Real men drink beer for fun. Not to run away.
They drink and get big bellies and bump each other with them yelling "wooo!"

Drinking your problems away at 14 huh? Well if you're going down that path you'll be a raging alcoholic by 22 and dead by 35 because of liver failure. And the worst part is it won't actually solve your problems. So do yourself a favor and find some other way to destress.

You are fourteen, if you run away from fourteen year old problems now then what are you going to do when you have real ones?

That is actually a good alternative, yes. Except that it has the nasty side effect of having to start smoking.

I love how everyone here seems to think that belittling Mudokon_Master is going to be helpful.

WoF: You of all people, with your training, should know that fourteen year old problems feel just as big and bad, if not moreso than so-called 'real problems'. As Terry Pratchett says, childhood fears aren't smaller than adult ones, they're magnified by the person's comparitively small stature.

He did write quite clearly that his problems and argument were silly and little. Having a rather shitty teenagehood myself I'd be one of the first people to concede that teenagers can have real problems.

I don't know what else your day entailed, but I used to fight with my mother all the time, and I don't know what your relationship with your mother is like, but the problem will probably resolve very soon. Regardless of whether I'm right or wrong in that respect, if she finds that you've been drinking, that'll make more problems with her, so it is highly unwise to do so.

Exhibits of this kind of behaviour are widely perpetuated, so I think it is possible that you view this kind of behaviour as solution because you recognise it as a popular method of escape. I would advise you to think more logically about the situation, otherwise you'll just create more problems for yourself.

Eh, you can't crave what you've never had, and people will tell you alcohol won't solve your problems. But actually, it damn well eases you up. I started drinking at 14 and I'm okay, maybe my liver won't be but being 1/2 Irish might give me 1/2 a heads up. Any way, if you get drunk, have a good time don't go crazy and don't mix your alcohol. If you wanna get drunk quick, buy a few Magners, they taste nice and seem to do more for people than vodka does...I dunno, maybe I'm talking out my shitter but it seems to work.

Whatever you do though, stay safe.

I dont think advising someone against drinking is the same as belittling someone.

I was pretty much the only person who did anything close to 'belittling'.

And it wasn't intentional.

Yeah, but your childhood was actually shitty, not teenage shitty, which is totally apart from the point I was trying to make.

But even if his problems were silly and little, that doesn't change my point; teenage problems feel massive to teenagers and it doesn't help to have older people telling them how easy they have it.

Well no one's condemning you for having teenage problems x_x They are as real as your heart tells you, and I think the proper measure against them is to deal with them or at least accept and try to understand them. Just supressing problems doesn't ever help anyone.
Like Joe said, they help you learn how to deal with bigger problems later on.
But in the end it's your choice x_x Whatever the choice, it's not really a wrong one. We're meant to make mistakes and get into trouble in order to learn from them. Not everything can be learned from books and text.
