The police is superior to you, that's the entire point of a police force. In my opinion the police should be respected and somewhat feared at all times. The US has this nailed down perfectly because you wouldn't think of messing with a US cop. In the Netherlands or the UK the police are a laughing stock. The police aren't feared in the UK because unlike the US they aren't armed efficiently. When shit like this happens, police have barely anything to defend against the rioters.

Perhaps it is only natural, but it doesn't seem uncommon that when someone of an ethnic minority clashes with the law, others of their ethnicity will take their side irrationally, probably because of an underlying dislike of the police which may very well be rational (or not).
