I don't watch Big Bang Theory regularly, but I generally enjoy it when I see it.

The popularity of Two and A Half Men is simply perplexing, but not near as perplexing as the fact that both of these tv shows were created by the same people.

The only reason these two are so popular is that they cater to the simplest of jokes, I haven't seen much of BBT, but TaHM is nothing but sex jokes. These are most certainly not the best of American sitcoms.

People praise those shows? Who? Find new "people", they're both absolutely awful.

On the whole, I detest sitcoms. The only ones I really ever got behind were Seinfeld and Frasier, and occasionally Cheers (of which Frasier was just an extension). These days I don't really enjoy Seinfeld anymore, because all of their funniest stuff has become super AIDS. Frasier, I feel, has all the same jokes as a regular sitcom, just far more clever. They run several episodes in sequence back-to-back on the Hallmark channel. Followed by the Golden Girls, which I can't stand.

I think the Big Bang Theory is the some of the most lazy, moronic writing I've ever seen on television. It's a shame, because they have alot of opportunities to be clever, but end going for the "super accessible" approach every time. And everyone knows the only funny that ever came out of Two and a Half Men was from Sheen and Sheen alone.

I enjoy Big Bang Theory but I've never actually watched Two and a Half Men.

I love My Name Is Earl though.

Shame the entire thing came to an end with "To Be Continued........." and there is no certanty on a 5th season. Put it this way, I have all the seasons on DVD and the boxset for Season 4 advertises it as "The Final Season"

I watched TBBT when it aired in Finland and I thought it was good. Two and a half men sucks in my opinion. It's so dumb.

My Name Is Earl technically isn't a sitcom. At least not a traditional one. I'd say its just a "comedy show".

I fucking hate Two and a half men. Oh god. So much. The last acute care center I worked in had us working in pairs to treat residents, which made things nice. Especially when it came to Dinner time as we had several bed ridden residents who had to be fed, so two people really sped the process up. Except the girl I worked with fucking loved the show and it was on when dinner was served, so we'd be in there feeding and she'd put it on, and she knew I hated it so she'd actually sing along with the theme song. In case you're not familiar with the theme song, it's essentially just a song that says "men men men manly men men" OVER AND OVER AND OVER. She would sing it the entire time we were on our rounds.

fuck that show.

But yeah, in general, I dislike american sitcoms. Frasier was good in its early seasons, as was Seinfeld. I've never seen a full episode of Big Bang Theory, but what I have seen seems annoying.

I really like Curb your Enthusiasm, though. If you can even call that a sitcom. Also Eastbound and Down and Bored to Death.

Malcolm in the Middle was good, again, in the early seasons, but got bad once Reese joined the military and the parents had the baby. And really the only thing that made the show for me was the Dad. He was fucking hilarious. The speedwalking episode still stands out as one of the funniest things I've seen on television.

Oh, and we've started to watch the Americanized version of Wilfred. I like it, but from what I've read, most people don't.

It got complaints.

Oh, shit. I forgot about Modern Family. I like that one. But I think you're right. I was watching it with a few people when the "Don't talk black to me" joke happened, and I was the only person who thought it was giggle worthy. Everyone else had to ask me why I was laughing. Not because they thought it was stupid, just because they...Missed it.

I liked My Name is Earl for the first two seasons. I really did. But I was honestly surprised it lasted longer than that. I mean the premise of the show is good enough, but the fact that each episode is pretty much the same got old for me. Then when it just got super wacky and silly, I really gave up on it. I personally wish Jason Lee would have stuck with skating.

Pretty much what DI said about My Name is Earl. It just got so over the top.

Parks and Recreation is a bunch of fun. Not sure if it falls under the 'sitcom' label either, but still absolutely funny. Modern Family is great, too.

I'm was going to say that you should watch Give my Head Peace but you'll probably not get the show unless you understand the last thirty years history of Northern Ireland.

But, still, you might find it funny. It's the only funny thing to come out of N.I. other than Nadine Coyle thinking she could make it as a solo artist.

Oh, and Father Ted, but that's the Republic of Ireland.

I liked It's always sunny in philadelphia... It felt less like a sitcom and more like a comedy show.

I really hate sitcoms for some reason... Even the good ones.. Even the ones I like. I just don't like the setup.

That's how I felt before I was first forced to watch a few episodes. It grows on you.

Or, at least, you learn to ignore Leonard and enjoy the other characters instead.
