If you're clever then you can get from working class to middle class. Having a university degree automatically makes you middle class, as does starting a job in a white collar profession.

If you're hard working you may get from working class to middle class, but there are a lot of obstacles.

If you're hard working and clever then you can get from working class to upper-middle class.

You will never ever be 'upper class'. Neither will your children or your grandchildren. The first generation that stands a chance is three down, barring extreme circumstances like entrepreneural gains or marriage.

There is nothing to respect about landowners whatsoever. Absolutely nothing. They didn't work for their money, they pay other people to maintain their money and they don't use any skills. Total parasites.

Bear in mind that the Hilton chain is a large corporation only part owned by Paris' grandfather. She does not receive anything from her parents (any more) and has apparently even been disinherited by her grandparents. Say what you like about her (and I could say plenty), she is a remarkably successful woman who has earned a shitload of money in her own right. If the Hilton chain collapsed, she'd probably be the best off out of her entire extended family.

Maybe in your country. In Australia, a large percentage of the of the cultural and financial elite were born in to working class families or arrived as impoverished immigrants.
