Yesterday I went to the shop and bought myself a 4 pack of John Smith's Extra Smooth. Never tried it before but smooth beers have always been a favourite of mine. When I got home I put the cans straight in the fridge since they were not chilled when I bought them from the shop. I read the small details on the can since it's something I always do with food and drink. I noticed on the can it said “Floating Widget inside”. I started to panic as I didn't know what it was and I was scared that it might be something I could accidentally swallow when drinking from the can. I asked my mum and she told me that it's simply a ball to stop the beer from frothing over when I open the can. Today I opened up a can and loved every sip. My brother (who's 10 and has aspergers) soon become interested when I told him that there's a ball inside the can. I let him have a sip and the reaction on his face was hilarious. It looked like he had just sucked on a lemon. When I finished the can I washed it out with water then tipped it upside down so he could see the magic ball that he had become so interested in. My stepdad cut open the can with a knife and gave the ball to my brother. So now my brother is obsessed with this little ball from a can of beer. He kept it in his pocket and kept looking at it all the time. He has even taken it to the grandparents today to show them because he thinks they will be quite interested in it. I doubt it somehow. He wants me to hurry up and drink the other 3 cans so he can have more floating widgets and even wants me to but more can's of John Smith's down the shop. I somehow doubt that drinking enough can's of John Smith's so that he can have a village of floating widget's would be good for my health.
My brother won't ever run out of friends if I keep buying these
