Flood!

Fuck. I was going to ask if anyone on here was effected by that.

How badly hit were you?

Move to Sydney. We have a harbour that guzzles rain.

We also have a dam that would like to guzzle rain.

The ground's too dry in Adelaide for it to flood. It soaks up water really fast.

700 people dead in the floods in Brazil so far, more rain on the way. But you have to dig fairly deep in the news to find reports. Phillipines flooded a few weeks ago too.

I have a friend from Australia on Xbox Live. She hasn't logged in for a while now.

I have no idea.

Not badly, as we're up at the head of a valley, not too far from the source of the Mary River. There was water everywhere though - dams (not big water reservoir ones - relatively small brown ones like you get on farms) were pouring tremendous amounts of water over the road, in one case cascading down a bank in a killer waterfall on the other side.

The river rose about four metres, and along the road before the bridge it was spilling out into a meadow. In fact, even really close the river - which was crashing about a metre and a half over the bridge - was flowing back the other way, so we could get pretty close to it. That's where I swam.

We lost power for a day and a half or so and phone for nearly a week - I'm hoping that and the bridge being over is enough to get the $500 or so that any minor affected by the flood can get. Adults get $1000; wish this had happened next year.

Obviously, each Australian is worth fifty Brazilians.
