Well my Uncle tried to commit suicide...

Posted 11-29-2010 at 02:21 PM by RyuuFox
Yes its true We found out that my uncle (who suffers from bipolar) tried to commit suicide by overdosing on pills (4 bottles). He even posted it on his facebook saying how nobody cares about him, and how everybody's hates him. He called his ex saying that he was going to do it, broke the phone so nobody would call him and overdose...Lucky His ex called his neighbor to see if he was alright, he was laying on the ground in the kitchen, and the neighbor man called the police. Doctor said he's going to be alright but will keep him under care so that he doesn't try to harm himself again. So whats my Reaction? Nothing. Yes i know i should feel something but i never really trusted him from the start. Since he's bipolar he almost killed a person went to jail multiply times and cant support his kids. But I'm glad he's getting cared for.

I don't like the way you've chosen to phrase that. It makes it sounds as though all people with bipolar do something terrible because of their condition, which they don't. I have a friend with incredibly bad bipolar, and she's never done anything of the sort. In fact, I have more sympathy for your uncle than the person who you say he almost killed. It's a terrible shame that he's stuck with that horrible condition.

Sorry about that. One of my uncles is dead, but I didn't like him so whatever. And as for being bipolar, its not like there aren't meds to treat it. I have another uncle who is Schizo and is basically a tramp and doesn't bathe, but makes up his own math equations that really work. I understand why you wouldn't feel anything. It's not really your fault if some of your family members are weirdos. It just happens sometimes.

i think this is a cry for help more than anything. hopefully he'll receive the proper care he needs rather than being swept under the carpet or shunted into a minority.

Jesus Christ, i don't think i've seen generalisation on such a massive scale.

I'm empathizing. I don't even believe in bipolar disorder.

serotonin, dopamine, reuptake, all that stuff. I think that people are responsible for their actions though.

We are talking about exactly where intelligence and will, sense of self and decision making arises. Brains and their components. These drugs and diseases alter every aspect of that.

I can assure you, it's very much real.

A person does not choose to get bipolar. The drugs available to treat it don't work the same for everybody, either, so it's not as simple as taking a couple of pills a day to balance those chemicals to keep you half way between a high and a low. Anybody who faults somebody with bipolar because they think that the person can't "get over" their bipolar wants to shut up and just talk about what they know about.

Hope your uncle's mental health improves Ryuu.

Ziggy, as long as you don't disbelieve in it then I won't say a word ;P.. I'm sure it's real. All people have their own personalities that can affect how they feel and what they do. Having something like bipolar will affect how they feel and what they do also. It would be VERY wrong to suggest that people with bipolar are actually just bad people.

My dad is bipolar, losers. He's a nut. A real, total wacko.

Still not a bad person though.

I know it's a real condition. I just thought it was a little weird when OddjobAbe said he feels more sympathy for Ryuufox's uncle than the person he tried to kill.

I feel sympathy for that uncle for different reasons I feel sympathy for the person he apparantly almost killed. However, both still have my sympathy.

In fact, in all honesty, neither have any of my sympathy. I haven't a bloody clue who they are.
