There exists a horror film where a Leprechaun murders a man with a pogo stick.

It's the result of a disturbed mind. I tend to feel that a lot of people involved with the making of horror films (this excludes a lot of psychological thrillers - I'm talking about gore films) are either idiots or genuine nutcases (although there are the odd few people I think are all right and do what they do tastefully).

EDIT: And I do realise that was a rhetorical question.

All I know of The Leprechaun comes from this. I don't really get how and why gore horror and homour can mix, but maybe I'm just narrow minded.

In the Bible someone was murdered with a wet towel. An entirely unrelated person was murdered with a tentpeg.

Horror is dead. I think genres should die too.

The 80's ruined horror movies imo, that's when "slasher films" really took off.

Excuse the pun, but if you find a horror film to be horrific as in a tasteless murder of the genre as you know it, does it not suit its genre perfectly?

Although I suppose we aren't supposed to find terror to be terrific..

Mac, I sort of disagree. "Horror" as it is is clearly popular enough for the same tried-and-tested elements to be reused over and over. If it weren't popular, they'd either stop making horror films or they'd bring something new to the genre.

Anyone who watches Martyrs, or Let The Right One In, and still says that horror films are either dead, or not doing something new can poop in a hat.
