You need a force to counteract another force. And you need a force to exert an effect: this is grade school stuff. The force being counteracted- and how is gravity. An entire universe's worth of gravity.

Or it might be something completely different that revolutionises physics and science as we know it. Scientists love those. We'll see.

But as it is, we have shit loads of data to support what we already know. Hell, that's how we learned it in the first place.

I'm not arguing, I'm just trying to understand, because I don't.

There are so many books that can explain it must better than I can, and they're not expensive. Anything on astrophysics by Marcus Chown, Stephen Hawking, Simon Singh, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Martin J. Rees, Carl Sagan, and others. Go to the science section of Barnes and Noble, Waterstones, or whatever you have, move all the homeopathy books back to fiction where they belong, and have a look.
