I just played my alto for the first time all year after being assigned a tenor at the end of last year. It was really cool I thoroughly enjoyed myself. After playing my way through various clichés I'd heard recently (featuring, but not limited to, "Who Can it Be Now" and "You're More Than Fair") I moved onto my dads old rock and roll book. I spent my time getting acquainted with still more clichés.
The alto now seems weightless after I've been lugging my tenor around. I've now decided to resume playing the alto. First things first, I need to get it serviced.
Playing anything below a low A causes an octave-squeak unless I take absurd amounts of caution. Playing anything moderately high causes a wired airy feeling. I have a key leaking air, but from where I'm unsure. Palm-d and above work well. Altissimo (including face E and F) have simply stopped working.
To confound the issue, the thumb key is on the left, which is contrary to any other saxophone I've ever seen. It feels wired after playing on a 'normal' thumb key for so long.
I also was beating out some mean tunes on the tenor.
All in all, today's been good fun saxophone wise.
