I was watching the news last week when an AD for a Current Affairs program came on. I like to listen to the outrageous and mis-proportioned crap they'll be convincing people about, so I actually paid attention, which is more than I can say for most ADs. They spoke of a shop that wouldn't hire 'white' people, and this was reverse-racism...

My dad and I had a nice laugh at the stupidity of the concept! Racism is discrimination against one for their race, so reverse-racism isn't!

Anyway, it's sad to see that people watch that crap. It's even worse when they believe it...

"Reverse-racism" is a term that really gets on my nerves. Racism is discrimination against another race. As far as I'm concerned, reverse-racism is discrimination against the person's own race.

Is it just me or is everyone objecting to the phrase 'reverse racism' rather than the concept?

How about we just use the more common phrase 'Positive Discrimination' and leave it at that? (Also, the example in that ACA story would be racism, not reverse racism. It's still racism if it's against white people)

I'm really begining to hate the word racism. You can't avoid not liking someone because they're different, because we're all different anyway. Irritatingly, we all act like it's avoidable. Sure, you might be able to dampen racism against different colored people in general, but there'll always be someone.
