Fucking Hell

Another one on my nephew and his latest phase. Sadly, it seems that his new box set (that is was a little late from Amazon) has rekindled his love for Watership Down, and because this rendition is spread over three fucking series, he's quoting things from it for every situation under the Sun (including belters like "slow down, you great pillock", and others that I can't think of because there are myriad quotes that he now frequently uses). Now, I remember when this first came out, but we were all almost thirty, so none of us watched it. Because of this, I felt indifferent towards it. It now is driving me 'round the bastard bend. Fortunately, my nephew is slowly getting into Quantum Leap, so I have a feeling that I'll like his next phase if he ever enters it.

Regarding my own recent viewing pleasures, I've just been watching Peep Show again. Fucking hilarious. I just don't know who's better; Mitchell or Webb. They're both excellent. Go watch it on 4 On Demand.

In other news, our telephone is on its way out. We need a new one. I hope that whatever we get has Jingle Bells on it - we always set that as the bell at Christmas.

i haven't had much sleep myself, so if this sounds like a garbled pile of mouldy Mastitis, apologies.

i've never seen the series of Watership Down, and i need to get around to watching fucking Peep Show. i found the That Mitchel and Webb Look series to be great, so i should enjoy it. AND i constantly forget about 4OD, and have missed a few good programs due to that. only one i remember is BBCi Player, and that's fucking shit, anyway.

i'm starting to have a similar experience concerning my little cousin. i've been picking him up from Primary when i'm doing nights and have free afternoons for a while now, and on goes the idiot box with bloody Ooglies or whatever it is. alright the first few times, now it drives me crackers. the cartoons have changed in terms they seem to all be computer generated around that time of day, i've noticed. the animation is never drawn.

i was also appalled at what they had done to Horrible History's. i watched a few of the originals near the end of Secondary School and they did teach you things. i watched one the other day with him and it started talking about Simon Cowell and other modern culture references when it was supposed to be explaining an instrument made up of live pigs that acted as a sort of musical instrument. dunno what it resembled, just like sticks and nails.

fucking christ, you know what i mean. i'll edit later tomorrow/today.

On the subject of 4od, can anyone tell me how to get it to work? I can't view anything using it, it just gives me a list of episodes I'm supposed to be able to view but can't.

My nephew watches CITV when he gets home from school, and it's fucking terrible. I remember things like Sooty, Paddington, Captain Pugwash, stuff like that. The stuff he watches is fucking drivel. To be honest, I'd prefer him to watch everything I've been complaining about the last week or so.

4OD, Peep Show, series 2 episode 6 now. I've never laughed so hard in my life.

For about ten years, maybe a little more. The series is more of a kids' thing, but it was somewhat redeemed by the presence of Rik Mayall, Jane Horrocks, Stephen Fry and Phil Jupitus. Just a shame I've seen it umpteen times.

i remember watching that! the last episode i saw was when a hedgehog was about to get run over. i never found out what happened because it never came on again, or was on at a different time.

its CBBC for him. i swear half the stuff on there is actually causing kids to revert in age rather than progress. constantly watching it would turn your mind to mush, i'm sure.

its not that i want them to start teaching them quantum physics, it'd just be nice to give them a bit of structure in the cartoons about real situations, but in cartoon form. like they used to do when i was little.

due to this, i've had to tell him a number of things that should be common sense at his age, but have gotten muddled up thanks to the pointless cartoons. one instance was telling him that our planet is called Earth, and not 'people world'.

i never liked it, but Charlie Brown is a good example. they even had one episode with a storyline to do with cancer, and how the characters coped with the bullying. like i say, i never liked that particular cartoon, and a cancer topic is a bit strong, but there was other similar instances, not as strong, in different programs.

one program that's decent and holds their attention, is one talking about certain foods and what's really in them, what athletes eat and why, and going through the WW2 era in the process. to be honest, even i was watching that one with interest.

It played on YTV and presumably WB/Fox Kids for awhile here, but was dropped because of low viewership, I think.

I don't even know what Watership Down is, but from context I'm assuming it's a sexual act.

I would make a joke about no-one caring about the Second World War until you replace the Jews with bunnies, but even I find that to be in bad taste.

Funnily enough, after the second world war, there was a bit of a bunny holocaust. They gave many rabbits myxomatosis because of how many there were.
