I was recently arguing with a person insisting that professors of philosophy should not be fed. I tried listing the fields of philosophy and their relevance to science, mathematics, computer science, politics, and the understanding of the universe and the human condition. I even proposed it as a representation of civilisation's achievements, along with science and the arts, as products that exist with greater purpose than "keeping the wheels of civilisation turning", without which humanity would be nothing but an entropy-generating engine. He still doesn't get it.

Yeah, Philosophy is the master discipline from which all start from.
