Christmas time brings broken ribs!?

Posted 12-08-2009 at 02:48 PM by ~Oprilthevykker~
It may just be me, but it seems like every year around this time.. People are seen on Tv getting ran over with buggies over some stupid toy or game?..

What's the world come to when an object means more to people then their own freakin' race?

If I saw an old woman laying on the ground, I'd use my body as a road block to keep the a-holes running over her from doing so.

If materialism is the devil, then christmas is probably the least holy holiday celebrated in America.

But hey, even old ladies getting run over with shopping carts has it's funny side. Haven't you seen Jingle All the Way? Oooh, that Sinbad and his off-color anti-white humor gets me every time!

Dude, not cool.. That's just plain wrong.
No elderly person deserves to be ran over in a store,
because some idiot wants the "Tickle me Elmo".
I find "NOTHING" funny about the elderly being injured
on the holiday supposed to be about love, and compassion.

Love and compassion... for toys.
In America, Christmas has little value outside of commercialism, as sad as that may be.

I love Christmas, but I hate that it brings out the materialistic worst in everyone, including myself. I'm ashamed to admit I'd probably be an unhappy camper on Christmas if I didn't get any presents. Since I'm not christian, and kind of hate my family, there's little else for me to enjoy besides spending time with my girlfriend and looking at all the pretty lights.

At least you have a family.. You should consider yourself lucky.
Ha, family means nothing to me, and presents? I've never got a present once for christmas, accept for things I buy myself (what little I can afford from my crappy jobs.)

But yeah, you have family you choose to hate.. but could love them for those of us that's never had one.

I don't choose to hate them. Years of attempted brainwashing and abuse on their part sort of ties my hand.

"Aw, granmma tried to drown me in the bathub when I was four. I just wuv her!"

I loveChristmas as much as any pagan holiday, it's just the "holiday spirit" has been beaten down by capitalism for years now. I feel all warm and fuzzy, and I try to be generous, and thats all one really can do.

As for old ladies being gored in the parking lots of Wal-Mart, it's something that's going to keep happening. Frankly, I'm not going to let it ruin my holiday mood.

Muppet Christmas Carol is one of the best movies ever. But we already had this discussion, Joe.

No, but seriously, I have the soundtrack to this film. It is brilliantly composed and catchy as fuck.

Yeah, you obviously didn't read my last few post's, I grew up in an orphanage. Meaning I wasn't allowed to watch TV. Or at least, not cartoon's, if we we let to do so it was to watch the news.

No one wants to kill old people for material goods. I don't know what story you're referring to, but there was an incident last year where a Wal Mart employee was killed by being trampled on by Black Friday shoppers. Now, imagine trying to stop when there's hundreds of people behind you charging without any knowledge of what has happened. As far as they're concerned, there are deals waiting to be taken advantage of. Even if you had noticed the person in the millisecond you passed them by, could you really do anything abot without possibly getting trampled yourself? Even if they hadn't killed the person, it's still sickening behavior. But I think saying they immediatly disregard human life for materials is a little bit of an overstatement. It should at least encourage people to be more careful and take stronger measures when they're dealing with human greed on such a massive scale.

Thanks for the great, heart warming comment Used! very much enjoyed it.

However, I beg to differ.. Two or three years ago a man held a woman at gun point not far from where I live for her Ps3. Threatening to "Blow her brains out" unless she gave it to him.

And thanks for trying to cheer me up mulluck..
But christmas just gets me depressed every year.
Like this year, even my girlfriend left me.. she decided she was lesbian. So, I'll be spending christmas here, alone with my dog.

this is strange, because this is exactly what happened to me in 2007, at Christmas.

EDIT: also going to go ahead with editing this, for the same reason as my previous blog post.

Dude, I'm living in Lima right now. I hear about that kind of stuff all the time, and I'm very surprised it hasn't happened to me yet. Human malevolence is a reality and it sucks, but every situation is different. Those customers should not be grouped with thieves. That's why I was trying to give some perspective to that particular incident.

I think that to avoid the trampling incident, stores need to let people in bit bit bit.. Like let in 10 people, wait half a minute, let another 10 in and so on.

This probably could work if the people who manage the doors at Wal-Mart weren't handicapped.

The ones that work the registers are. Wal-mart almost exclusively hires retards and the elderly for more menial tasks though.

I'm sorry to here this... Opril, both my parents are alive and love me, although like most people they do lose their tempers occasionally.
The closest family member of mine who died was my Grandma on my mother's side, who I never really knew or was close to anyway, and her husband, who died when I was three and I don't remember him.

You say you have crappy jobs. I don't know where you live and what it's like there, but there's almost always something you can do to make more money than you are now. It may not be a job working for someone else.

And I hope you get another girlfriend in time for Christmas
