There was simply a check box on my GP transfer form, so it was easy. Didn't discuss it with anyone, a: because its no one's damn business except making sure they know what my wishes are, and b: I know my family already approves, if it were even necessary.

Yes, that's the point. I'm not sure what it's like over there in the mother country, but here filling out the form is not legally binding; they always go ask the next of kin for consent. The form is just there for them to show the family that the new corpse expressed a preference whilst still breathing.

That seems rather stupid. You told them what you wanted while alive, but they still need consent after the fact despite the not inconsiderable handicap of being dead.
