I personally really enjoyed it from a non-vampire fan's perspective.

With the only vampire experience I have being Blade and Twilight, I was pleasantly surprised to see a society where Humans and Vampires live together.

I think the main characters are very good and the cliffhangers at the end of each episode are well developed.

There are a lot more sexual scenes than I might have guessed, but overall it is a really good piece of work. I also love the themetune. Check it out here;

OANST, you are of course correct.

All the same, I have enjoyed both series of True Blood. Kind of how I enjoy sleep: It's not masterful, but it's sometimes nice to turn off your brain and enjoy the fiction that follows.

I too enjoy True Blood, although as has been stated ad nauseum on the Internet - the southern accent irks me somewhat.

The sex scenes are hot. I wouldn't say no to playing them out with my fuck buddies

@ Max: I know what you mean. Despite my general disdain for the show, I have still seen every episode. Mostly I think that's because it's made by Alan Ball, and I keep waiting for it to live up to his previous genius.
