My Metal - Vol. II
Posted 11-15-2007 at 02:53 AM by Rupture Farms
Here's part two of my favourite metal bands.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Cannibal Corpse Okay, okay, they're freaks. But their music isn't as awful as you'd think. They've made some really melodic, catchy songs in their time. I'm still unsure as to whether I'll buy one of their albums, but this band in undoubtedly my favourite Death Metal, so I might just. But some of their album 'art' is just.....so wrong. Here's a typically gruesome image: Anyway, these guys are the place to start if you actually want to get into this music. Listen to: "Sentenced to Burn", from 1998's, Gallery of Suicide. Slayer Gowwd, these guys fucking rule. At least, they did in the 80s. They are the gods of thrash. Not only are they the best band in that genre, but I believe 'Reign in Blood' is the best metal album of the 80s. Listen to: "South of Heaven", from South of Heaven, or "Hell Awaits", from Hell Awaits. Dethklok Yeah yeah, they aren't real. But the music (and 'Metalocalypse' in general) is surprisingly brilliant. I was actually convinced they were a real band until I found out otherwise. System of a Down These guys make some of the most beautiful metal anthems the world has ever seen. Their music truly is, unique. The music ranges from slow songs, fast songs, and even faster songs. They've never really made a bad album, per se, just some are weaker than others. 1 - Mesmerize - Recommended Track: "B.Y.O.B" 2 - System of a Down - Recommended Track: "Sugar" 3 - Hypnotize - Recommended Track: "Kill Rock N' Roll" 4 - Toxicity - Recommended Track: "Chop Suey" 5 - Steal This Album! - Recommended Track: "Roulette" Immortal They're truly the greatest Black Metal band that have remained a solid Black Metal band through the entire course of their career. They aren't satanic, like many other Black Metal outfits, their entire lyrical system revolves around a place/universe/thing called "Blashyrk". Honestly, some of their music is truly amazing. They are just...so talented. They are, again, a lot like Dimmu Borgir, but I think it would be more appropriate to say, Dimmu are a lot like Immortal. While Dimmu make beautiful music, they don't really have 'slow' peaceful songs like Immortal and Cradle of Filth do. 2002's, 'Sons of Northern Darkness' is easily their best album. All the music is extremely fast, catchy, furious, and at times, beautiful to listen to. And this is a Black Metal band, is that even possible!? Well, these and Dimmu, have proved it. Recommended Track: "One By One" =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Well, that's pretty much all for this post. I'll be creating more of these soon. |
