What Strike Witch doesn't know is that we recently amended the rules to make 'Declaring yourself leaving and then returning' an infractible offence. Given her past infractions, don't expect to see her logging on any time in the next two and a half months.

About three years ago, when vBulletin (I think) 3.0 came out and included an infraction system. I'll let Max explain why the term is lexically incorrect.

In normal language, an infraction is what the person performs when they break the rules. They infract the rules. vBulletin has decided to invert the term to refer to what moderators issue to those who break the rules. We give them an infraction, a concept that, given the proper meaning of the word, makes no sense.

I tried for a while to get everyone to use the word "reprimand" instead, but it didn't catch on. Now I use the bastardized "infract" grudgingly.
