My Eighth Blog: The Rocky Film Franchise

I've been watching lots of Rocky films recently, as I bought a boxset of all 6 films. So far I've seen the first five and can say that I'm quite pleased with how the films have turned out.
I suppose Rocky III might be a highlight for me, since it contained Mr.T and the superb "Eye of the Tiger" song.
I think the part I didn't like most was probably the first part of Rocky I. But even so, it's a classic movie and it's hard not to smile whenever you hear the "Gonna Fly Now" song.
The brotherly bond between Apollo and Rocky was quite a nice development in III and IV. I think the film covers the characters in many ways and has some great action sequences.
While some of the boxing is naff, I can't help being on the edge of my seat during the end of Rocky II,III and IV, when Rocky is about to be KO'd and he unleashes his full fury.
I thought Rocky V was alright actually. The "Tommy Gunn" thing was quite a nice spin on things, although it was clear that he was going to betray Rocky for fame and fortune.
I haven't seen Rocky Balboa yet, but I hear it's a fitting end to the series. So, what are your thoughts on the Rocky film franchise? If anything... Rocky just keeps on going. Not many film franchises make it past 5 films; Harry Potter and Star Wars to name a few.
