I've just been to a Harry Potter themed birthday party.

And it was teh awesums.

We had sweets done up to look like Honeydukes specialties, we had a potions cabinet full of alcohol, a nest full of toy dragons in chocolate eggs, we all got wands and played Order vs Death Eaters in a local park at half one in the morning and I spent the dawn hours discussing war, philosophy and politics with remarkably insightful and intelligent people.

My friend who organized this, this was her 21st Birthday, which only made things more epic, sans most of the people there being bearded 20+ metalheads.

Oh and I came as Draco Malfoy, I straightened my hair, slicked it back and wore a green cloak that was fucking awesome and I looked as sexy as all hell. Go figure.

I remember my friend having an HP themed birthday party back in the day. Twas fun, but yours sounds much cooler.
