Thought: Shouldn't the movie title be 'Snakes in a Plane'?

Things normally get put on planes, as they do get put on buses. It doesn’t mean they’re on top of or on the uppermost external surface of the plane. It’s just the preposition that compliments that noun.

But that image plays a different language game, the snake there is clearly on top of the 'plane' and is unlikely to be served refreshments anytime soon.

Ah, but in this case the plane is also a transformer in its humanoid mode, so allowances have to be made. In truth, the English language has difficulty approaching novel situations like "giant python/viper snake hybrid attacking retro robot aeroplane-mech" with dedicated prepositions.

Transformers are not mecha, they're Robotic Organisms that can think and feel.
