I watched that one on mushrooms. It was surprisingly disappointing.

Went to see Spectre yesterday. Another good installment in the Bond series if you ask me. I like the ongoing story arc they've been exploring since the reboot, instead of the self-contained movies of the past.

I saw The Hateful Eight. Probably the best movie of the year, in my opinion. When I was told there was a sex scene, I expected something different from what I actually saw.

I wanted to see The Hateful Eight instead of Star Wars, but the premiere in Romania is on the 15th so I'm seeing it then. I don't regret going to Star Wars instead though.

I finished watching Gravity Falls for some reason, and I started One Punch Man which is great. Also Agent Carter in two weeks woo.

What'd you think of Gravity Falls? God, I love that show.

GOD, I hope they don't fuck up the finale.

I liked Gravity Falls, but I feel I shouldn't have because I'm 19 and it's a show for kids.

I'm kinda bummed they're stopping at 2 seasons though. Could've explained a bit more with a third.

Eh, just because it's mainly targeted towards kids (more families, I think) doesn't mean it should only be viewed as such. A good show's just a good show. Plus at least half of the Gravity Falls fandom seems to be in their 20s, so don't worry, it's not too strange. They're no Bronies

They're already talking about resurrecting it in some fashion into the future. So, all hope isn't quite lost, depending how hard they intend to milk it anyway.

One Punch Man is amazing, seriously. Easily one of the funniest anime/manga (and by extension, webcomic) I've seen. The animation is sooo fucking good, too, holy shit. ONE has to be really proud that his comic got such good adaptations, in regards to both the manga and the anime.

I watched The Martian, pretty funny and an interesting plot. Seems to have been adapted from the book pretty faithfully from what I’ve heard, which is nice.

It has super high scores on Rotten Tomatoes from both critics and the audience. Hmm, maybe I should watch it too.

Yeah, you'd better not watch it. Judging by that post it seems that you have a hatred for good films.

It is nothing like that. The reason people think it's cool to shit on Prometheus is because they're too dense to read between the lines, and the equate subtle storytelling and not being spoon-fed exposition with plotholes and lazy writing.

You must be disconnected from reality if you think there's a lot of depth to this movie's story.

People shit on this movie because it's a shit movie.

I dove back into the world of anime a while ago, I watched Attack on Titan. I didn't really like it that much to be honest. I had heard a lot of people who aren't really into anime praise it and I had sort of high expectations for it, but aside from a few episodes it really just wasn't all that interesting. It was a bit too edgy for me and some scenes were really lazily animated. I hated it when sometimes there was just a still-shot of some action going on in the screen, but it wasn't animated at all, just some stupid shaky filter effect and background noises. Hated that, so irritating. Some characters were kind of interesting and the (not sure if it's really a spoiler, I guess it is) titan shifting thing was pretty cool. I liked the opening theme (the first one, not too fond of the one in the later episodes), had a very valiant feel to it. I'd probably rate it at around 6.5/10, it was alright, but I'm not even remotely excited for the upcoming second season like a lot of people seem to be. In my defense, I basically watched the series to have a conversation topic with a girl I'm interested in...

In other anime-related news, I also started watching Cowboy Bebop which has been really great so far. I'm ten or eleven episodes deep and each episode has left me wanting more. The soundtrack is so goddamn amazing, love it. I think the show really succeeds in creating a relaxed and an entertaining atmosphere and knows when to have a bit of comic relief, but also manages to be intense and interesting. Hard to say if I like this more than Samurai Champloo, I'll have to finish this first and then decide on that.

Don't worry, I've also watched non-anime movies lately. I've been meaning to check out The Machinist for a while now and finally watched it a few days ago. Interesting thriller, I thought the plot was slightly reminiscent of Fight Club. Not a masterpiece by any means, but still a worthwile watch. I also saw The Perks of Being A Wallflower. Really good movie in my opinion, quite emotional. Ezra Miller might just be my new man crush... Inside Out wasn't as great as I thought it would be, but it was still a pretty good movie. It was neat how they visualized what goes on in the human brain, but at the same time managed to keep it pretty straight forward and simple so kids understood it too. The last movie I watched was Hachiko: A Dog's Tale. I liked the movie a lot, but man, what a tearjerker. I don't think I've ever bawled that much because of a movie before.

Saw The Revenant yesterday with some friends. Pretty good. I had heard some complaints about its story and how it was too simple, but I didn't find that to be a problem at all, mostly because it didn't really need a complicated plot for it to be a strong movie. I also looked into the actual events that it's based off of and (according to the Wikipedia article, at least) it seemed pretty accurate for the most part, excusing a lot of the dramatizations and other aspects that were included to make a stronger narrative.

Also, the cinematography is pretty damn good. I had heard that most of the shots in the movie used natural lighting and if that's the case, then that's pretty impressive. My friend also seemed to have a problem with Glass surviving at the end of the movie, and thought that the Arikara Chief should have also scalped him despite saving his daughter - mostly because he thought Glass should not have gotten a happy ending for pursuing a quest of revenge, and because he thought that it didn't make sense for Native Americans to feel the need to spare a white man. Can't say I really agree with him, though.

Saw The Hateful Eight.

I was really enjoying until the story moved into the cabin. It was fun but it felt like Reservoir Dogs but without any of the mystery or tension really landing like I think Tarantino wanted it to - for me, anyway. It's also the first time where I felt the over the top violence detracted from the film - even though I laughed a few times.

So yeah, a nice ol' romp but it didn't grip me like his last two films (despite whatever flaws they had).

Ok is there actually bear rape in this movie? I was thinking about going to see it but my friend is adamant that there is bear rape in there, and I'm not touching it if that's true.

i watched Big Trouble In Little China again a while back, one of my favourite films. it's a funny, enjoyable film that i would recommend to anyone who likes magic and ninjas. Jack Burton (Kurt Russell) cracks me up, i find him to be the relatable character in it.

anyway, i love John Carpenter's work. the original The Fog is another favourite of mine.
