What Is The Creepiest Oddworld Game?

I think that the creepiest Oddworld game is AE, because it has Fleeches, which are creepier than any other Oddworld creature.

Definitely Abe's Oddysee. There is no comparison.

Yes, AO is dark, but you don't get to sneak in the shadows alot, there's no Fleeches, there's no Necrum, and it is not as hard as AE. And Wings of Fire, why do you think GBA MO is the creepiest one?

You included it in the poll options, I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.

Seriously, I think AO>AE in terms of creepiness purely because of the Paramonian and Scrabanian temples having more of an atmosphere to them than Necrum.

AE was not as hard as AO. For one, you didn't have a quick save; and you couldn't possess a wide range of creatures like you could in AE. AE was just longer and had more things to do.

I would say AO as well for the creepiest. Much more dangerous and atmospherically darker. The bodies hanging from the barbed wire in the free-fire zone, the eeriness of the paramite nests, the bloody stains throughout Rupture Farms. The music also had a more somber tone to me. A lot of it just sounds like it was based off the music you hear the introduction before you get to the startup screen. I still get the chills whenever I hear it.

Actually, AE was little harder. Only the Quicksave function made the whole thing a lot easier.

Anyway, I'd say AO.

And that's one reason why I thought AO was harder, there was no quicksave. If you take away the quicksave feature, then it might be harder. Rethinking it though, AE had its own unique brand of puzzles. A lot of the new features like a having more creatures to possess, being able to turn invisible, and possessing/exploding your farts are necessary to complete several parts of the game. I don't think it's fair that the two should be compared like that.

How you could think that AO and AE are the creepiest game??? SW it's the creepiest game because it has some kind of atmosphere and music very disturbating! I put the wrong wote in the poll

Creepy? it has to be AE for me, I remember the fleeches all too well...

On the other hand I remember the spiky balls and the bats, those were creeping me out too when I was little.

AE had a lot of dark elements- the slave labour for Blind Mudokons, the mentally distressed mudokons, the Fleeches.

AO had a lot of darkness too though. I can't decide. I found AE more fun to play, but AO introduced it all. So I think I'll vote AO.

Abe's Oddysee all the way. O_o
When I was little I couldn't even get past the "This is Rupture Farms" clip.
Plus when the music picks up when you're about to be chased by something.
I'm sorry but Exoddus didn't have a creepy feeling to me...the Fleeches where just down right annoying.

It has always been a creepy game to me and will always remain one...also remain in my heart.

Abe's freakin' Oddysee. Whoever says AE needs to get summat straight. Fleeches are not creepy. Hanging, rotting corpses is, on barbed fences. Only plausible AE things seem to be what MM said, but I don't think they were done in such a creepy context particularly. AE's music wasn't as creepy either. Mining sounds and Slig Barracks? Not the same as free fire zone or anything like that.

Its a toss up for me. Rupture Farms and the Stockyards in AO were creepy to me, but Necrum and the fleeches I always found to be creepy aswell. Anywhoo I just went with AE to rebel against all the AO'ers.

Abe's Oddysee, of course. It was just so much more atmospheric than AE. Actually I think the problem with AE is that it just has so much stuff crammed into it that it just kind of distracts from the bigger picture. Abe's Oddysee, however, is just a lot more about the feeling you get from playing the game than it is about just playing the game. And the subject matter was a lot more serious and deeper.

The fleeches are creepy critters, but I never really thought of them that way. Things are really creepy when:

a) you're in a familiar location where something is awry, or:

b) you're in an unfamiliar environments, but where everything there belongs there. Except you. They won't always be creepy, but the creepiest ones do follow this pattern. Or:

c) there are corpses propped up on sticks.

The temples of AO were like (b). You were the one invading the place, everything there had been there for years, and their effect was a creepy one. The Free-Fire Zone was unashamedly the latter. Unfortunately, Oddworld is not exactly geared up to present you with a familiar location to mess up.

Now, Necrum. A beautiful oasis. A graveyard, yes, but for benevolent creatures who bear no grudge against you. Ghosts, even, but they're nothing but helpful. If one appeared you would soon get over the shock and have a pleasant conversation with him. The decorum is peculiar (skulls?) but not particularly occult, sinister or necromantic. The tombs are not loaded with vicious traps, although the wildlife certainly presents an inconvenience. But it is certainly not like a Mummy Returns-esque Ahm Shere

The fleeches feel out of place here. Not in terms of narrative or game design, of course not. They are an invasive species that have only contributed to the spoiling of the beautiful mudokon city of the dead. They aren't creepy. They are a dangerous pest.

Mudanchee and Mudomo are the same as the temples in AO, and Abe isn't out of place there, since he's a Mudokon. Necrum is very dark, and you can hear owls. And Fleeches aren't just dangerous pests. Some people think they're creepy. Some people don't. I started playing AE when I was 6, and I might have gotten to the Fleeches when I was 6 or 7, so I think they're creepy.

Certainly not in a sun-lit oasis filled with palm trees and Fleeches.

Tell me this: in what environment (non-Oddworld) would you feel more comfortable in: A desolate canyon, a dark, spooky forest, or a sun-lit oasis filled with palm trees?

AO definately. The atmosphere in the game was incredible, and had me feeling like somehting was about to come out and murder me at any second.

Although, when I first got my hands on the Oddworld Adventures (both 1&2), I find a sort of creepiness in the old gameboy graphics and music. I almost couldn't stand putting headphones on because the sounds the paramites made in OA1 when they went after you. Thier sprites freaked me out. I almost couldn't tell what it was at first.
