Lesbos try to ban lesbians.

A Greek court is considering a request by residents of the Aegean island of Lesbos to ban use of the word lesbian as a term to describe gay women, a court official said on Wednesday.

Three Lesbos residents brought the case, arguing that the use of the term "lesbian" in reference to gay women insults their identity.

From what I can tell from googling the term "lesbos," this has been snowballing (Hurr, pun,) since April this year, when a bunch of Lesbos claimed that they were the only ones who were allowed to use the term Lesbos. Either way, this is news to me.

I love the word lesbian, I hope they don't ban it. Seriously, if they take offence, it's their problem. I just don't think 'gay woman' sounds right.

What the hell? The word itself comes form that name. Why not just start stricly going by their alternate name of Lesvos? I've heard of Les Bos, coming from "les beaux" meaning "the beautiful" in French. I wonder if there actually a lesbian nightclub that goes by that name.

I heard this on the news and my mum commented that the Lesbosians were complaining about this shit 35 years ago when she was in Greece.

*Edit* It seems I need to read more, and I'll answer alot of my own questions.
So it's just restricted to one island, ok, it's bad, but realy, those people could just ditch the island, and I'm sure it wont have an impact on the rest of the world.

I think an ignorant Italian guy when hears the word lesbians understands what it means, but I think that when he hears lesbos he understands something like a perfume. Trust me.
