Game-Pad.net interviews Stewart Gilray

http://www.game-pad.net/interviews/1...ater-interview

Pretty interesting read.
  • Stewart hints that the talks with Microsoft are going well;
  • He mentions that they're including the "Gamespeak system from Exoddus" in Abe HD, and
  • Says they're looking at 4 platforms for Abe HD.

Thanks, was a good read. I'm a little disappointed that they're adding Quicksave in, it'll make the game too easy for me like it did with Exoddus. I tend to abuse things like that.

Do you think that the fourth one will be the Wii, or one of the new portable doodads?

EDIT: Or iPhone? Don't forget JAW have an iPhone history.

I think an iPhone port might be a little too difficult to pull off without seriously cutting down the game.

Unless they're planning on releasing it for Mac (and counting Mac as a separate platform), my money would be on a Wii port.

Cool info! I'm glad that their talks with Microsoft are going well. I really don't want to buy a PS3 just for few Oddworld games, hah.

Honestly I can't see why. I mean, my girlfriend owns a Wii and there are some very nice games on it but Oddworld doesn't feel home on this console.

I know what you mean. However I think Oddworld's Humor fits with the Wii audence. and playing Abe's Oddysee on the Classic Contoller would rock :P

Interesting!

Regarding the Exoddus GameSpeak, I understand why Abe being able to say 'All 'ya' would be useful- it did get a little annoying at times going back and forth to get each Mud separately

But what of the other phrases? Could this mean puzzles will be re-worked for Abe's 'work' command? What about Mudokon emotions for his 'sorry'? Similarly, what about the fact that the Monsaic lines and Paramonian/Scrabanian temples all required Abe to whistle, something absent from the Exoddus GameSpeak?

I am wondering whether the Exoddus GameSpeak is to be included in its exact form, or if instead it is really meaning we'll get the best of both AO/AE in one.

I'm playing Abe Oddysee, and I think that Abe whistles really fits to the game atmosphere. They're as good as Sligs "Smo bs" . JAW just cannot delete those things.

Since the whistling is a major gameplay factor, They can't get rid of it.

Exoddus Gamespeak? Does this mean that we can make mudokons WORK as well as FOLLOW in Abe HD? Happy times!! :P I'm glad about quicksave. Frankly, I need it.

"All of Ya" is really needed in Abe's Oddysee more then any other gamespeak I think.

I always hated only having one Mudokon following me

Gotta agree with that one. Going back for single Mudokons seemed like a bit of a chore to me.

The way AO was built almost entirely took that into account. The secrets where you have to keep doing the same run/jump/roll/not-get-eaten combos for each of two or three Muds are difficult because of that repetition, having to maintain your timing and alertness. All the same, I have to agree, to not have All o' Ya now would be annoying.

It'll be a nice add to the Oddysee remake, but it could also make some hard secrets very simple. I'm not sure if I like that, I like challenges.
