I would say that 'militiarized' would be a verb meaning 'to create a militia'. I think you're looking for militarized/militarised.

Wow, it looks like South Korea are preparing for some sort of military escalation? When China asked the South to show restraint their defence minister resigned and their troop count on their islands increased and is increasing substantially.

They are also preparing for Korean threats with military force closer to the disputed borders and de-militarised areas.
