Know what the second highest grossing movie is? Titanic.

Just sit and think about that for a while.

I didn't say it is the only movie worth watching, I said it is the most widely liked movie. I used precise wording because it is not the best movie, it has simply been liked by the largest amount of people. It is not a "piss-poor argument."
It is a piss-poor argument. It probably hasn't been liked by more people than any other film ever made in the world. It's more likely just been marketed really well, and then all those prone to manipulation through the media to at least some degree (i.e. most people) decided to see it (because it's been talked about so much, so it's clearly hot shit), and that's why it's made so much money.
That isn't to say that a lot of the people who went didn't like the film, but I wonder if they'd have seen it if so much hype hadn't been built around it.

Hence my comparison to music in the charts. Same principle applies. It isn't the most liked, but the golden hand of the "higher powers" has seen fit to caress it for a short while. It's all ephemeral and fickle.

I have made my opinion known. I am no longer retaliating to you two.
Why are you so defensive? Nobody attacked you personally.

I saw Skyfall a couple of days ago and loved it. It's on par with Casino Royale as my favourite Bond film. great action sequences, good plot and the villain was brilliant.

There is however one thing I don't understand about the Bond series. Is there an chronological order to the 007 story? because Skyfall to me feels like a prequel to the old ones and also a ending as well; It confuses me. I should add that I've only seen a few bond films (the oldest one being Goldeneye) so admittedly I don't know a lot of the story. And yes I consider that a spoiler

I chose to watch it 3 times. Once by myself when I had no idea what it was, the second time I got my family to come see it at IMAX, then I saw the 'extended edition' at IMAX again some time later.
Poor bastard.

The story was great

I know, right? The story was one of the most cliched in recent memory.

EDIT: In other news, I watched the first episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic last night, just to see what all the buzz was about.

...

well, that was

um

surprisingly good, actually. I like the uniqueness of the characters, art style and direction, and the writing is quite clever. I'd watch it more if I could find a decent site to stream it on. Also if I wasn't busy with other stuff.

XFD I love being pranked good one Bungle you had me going for a second there seriously though it's for 4 year old girls and is literally as clever as they can handle.

I'm watching a lot of The Venture Bros. lately, partially because I'm trying to emulate the 'Modern Johnny Quest' aesthetic in my drawrings and because it's just a really good show. There was a point where I loved it, then for some reason I spent like a year thinking it was really pretentious and terrible, and now I love it again. The Monarch is probably my favourite character.

It's actually a decent show when you get past the bronies. Well, about as decent as a show directed towards little girls can get.

And I heard some of the people who worked on Powerpuff Girls worked on this is. You just gotta disconnect from the fans, but I know no matter what I say you'll hate it anyways so I'll just shut up.

Are you joking? Is this a funny joke?

THIS?

E: I've calmed down, now.

Well, you know you can find all the episodes on youtube, right?

Wow. Well, the fans aren't really that bad, you know.
Seriously.

Saperspark's (bane #2) reaction was undoubtedly the funniest.

The fandom is generally a good, thing, but there is a few knobheads in it, which make it seem bad, most of these knobheads have terrible grammar.

On topic, I finished the first season of American Horror Story, it was certainly interesting. Now onto Asylum!

I do not hate the show itself for the same reasons I criticize people who obsess over it: It's not for me or my age group and thus I can't really care about the content (in a serious, real world way). I mislike it when people (mis)represent the show as something that is either deliberately or sneakily engineered to appeal to adults. It's just not true. And while having some PPG staff is interesting, it doesn't necessarily dictate the quality or appeal of the program. I'm sure that there's also staff who were involved in the production of hardcore pornography at some point (probably the sound guys it's always them types), but that doesn't mean that she show should only be viewed for 10 minutes at 3 in the morning in the dark and then switched off.
That being said, I've had a few friends who've said what you said in the post that kicked off this little exchange almost word for word and then realized they're basically just reading into something that their local sperglord told them about MLP and that the show really, REALLY isn't for them. So maybe upon closer scrutiny you'll see it differently and maybe not. I don't know since I'm not a mindreader and can't afford to be one with all my medical costs.

Which reminds me of something completely unrelated, but here goes.

Last night in my training course for my shitty call centre gig we started talking about Digital Cable packages available through the provider we're contracted to. Eventually the subject of adult movie channels arose and we all had a good chuckle at how we were supposed to describe the content of such channels to customers. Out of nowhere this dude who showed up in full home made platemail armour he uses for LARPing for Halloween started talking about how "WELL IT'S NOT LIKE ANY ONE WHO BUYS PAY-PER-VIEW PORN WATCHES IT PAST THE FIRST QUARTER UH HUH HUH RIGHT AM I RIGHT?" Sure enough fuckin' nobody wanted to even look at him, and then to make matters worse he blurted out "BUH WELL THAT'S JUST A STATISTIC I READ IN A MAGAZINE SOMEWHERE."

And now he sits right beside me and fucking talks to himself all day and then forces his expertise (which extends as far as anyone else in the class) on people who don't need/want his help. I was ready to just pass him off as some nerdo but he really irritates me with his muttering and I'm worried he might challenge me to a duel.

Since my shift is until 1AM usually I get up between 9 and noon, and Courage the Cowardly Dog is almost always on like 5 minutes after I wake up. I love the aesthetic of the side characters, especially the reporter with the gigantic teeth. And how everyone has spindly little stick limbs. And Freaky Fred.

He puts on a suit of social armor composed of shit jokes and over explanations no one asked for and then dresses it in a lumpy tuxedo of pseudo Seinfeldian presentation, thus nobody finds him interesting or funny. And that LARPin' thing is not in any way a joke, he literally showed up in like 70 pounds of steel armour and clanked around the centre half the night until he got tired and had to spend like half an hour slowly deconstructing it in 'class'.

I feel bad for him though. I mean, clearly he's been a giant dork for quite a long time (he has business cards that say 'Digital Artist/Swordfighter' dated 2007) but his mom died earlier in the year and other people in the course are just a little bit too openly venomous to his behavior than I'd like. He's annoying, but not excrutiatingly so. Just annoying enough to warrant reporting about it on a niche game forum.

Seriously though people like that make me sad. At least he has his armor of -5 embarrassment to deflect any insults that will come his way.
