The Gate, for the most part, it's a tame horror movie that can work for kids or adults, but the scene where illusions of the main character's parents come home, start choking him, and then he crushes there faces into a gooey pulp was kind of surprising. It's one of those movies I really wish I got to see as a kid.

finally watched the Ashes To Ashes finale, which was pretty bloody good compared to the previous not-so-good episodes. although, this series was better than the previous 2 altogether.

The Gate was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid.

Last night I watched What We Do is Secret. I fucking love The Germs, and I was pretty damned satisfied with the movie. Shane West did a good job as Darby Crash. As good a job as anyone could, I mean.

Also watched Surrogates. That was also surprisingly good. Fun and good.

I fucking love The Gate.
I remember seeing it for the first time on TV as a tike and being terrified that a zombie would come out of my wall.

Was a DVD or making-of ever released of that film?
I'd love to know how they did that massive swirling vortex effect near the end. That was one of the few films where I actually felt the immense scale of something like that.

Also, I watched Rock & Rule again for the first time in years. An awesome slice of animated cult. Highly recommend it for animation enthusiasts.

Actually, movie-related-question based on something a guy on another forum did.

Would you watch Inglorious Basterds with a 12-year-old? He thought it was totally okay, but I didn't think so.

Hmmm... depends. I don't think the issue is 'adult themes'; there's nothing in there that a mature 12 year old couldn't get and process. I think that the problem is the rather gory violence of some scenes. If he's fine with showing that to a 12 year old, then fine. I wouldn't be.

I don't think I'd watch any movie with a 12-year-old.

Probably. The point is it will contain allusions to Alice, so it will still be an 'Alice' movie. Unless Manson takes the whole Finding Neverland route, which sucked btw.

I watched Robocop when I was, like, five and it didn't badly affect me.

But no, I would not show Inglorious Basterds to a twelve year old.

After the second it wandered into "so bad it's terrible" territory.

How do guys think Toy Story 3 is going to end?

I for one think Andy will take the toys back, drop out of college, and become a creepy, overweight toy collector. He then jumps through a time-warp and you find out he's actually the villain from Toy Story 2.

So if the toy collector was Andy the whole time, why doesn't he just have sex with his younger self? That would nullify the time warp and he would have Woody and everything.

At some point along the way he lost Woody, which is why he goes back in time to get it from his younger self.

As to the sex thing... I have no idea how that would work, but okay.

No, but canonically they're coveted in Japan as the collector was going to sell them for a high price to a toy museum in Tokyo.

I rewatched that a few months back and just couldn't get into it. I remember liking it when I was about 16 or 17, but now...Nothing. Didn't even elicit a chuckle. The whining and bitching and moaning and screaming just wore on my nerves.
