The announcement was really pushing the whole ‘visual innovation’ angle, I’d be really surprised if this wasn’t a part of it. I bet the pictures of Abe they’re teasing will be of the cutscene model.

It’s also worth noting that Frima (the Canadian studio mentioned in the press release) has a dedicated ‘Animation & VFX’ department.

And it makes sense when you think about it: How much backlash did they get for NNT not being "as dark as AO"? Starting off the marketting campaign with "It's gonna be a dark fricken game" is bound to draw in all the people who previously criticized NNT for not being dark enough.

What will be interesting to see is whether or not it's taken past just the initial announcement and the new game ends up being much darker. It'd be funny, imo, if AO was remade to be more like AE, and then the AE remake somehow ends up more like AO. Like what kind of backwards ass bullshit I can't complain about would that be
