On speedrun.com I have stated that there will be a world record holder for each difficulty. So I hold the record for the easy difficulty and starvin holds the record for the hard difficulty.

Yeah, I just saw. You should make one for each difficulty for 100% as well.

A decent Rupture farms 100%:

And a solid Monsaic lines run. Miss timed a mimic so i lost like 8 seconds. Theyre just so strict in this level lol, not like later ones when we can literally cut them off.

When the Steam version comes out I have decided I'm going to play on the Mac version! i have a nice 27 inch iMac with Retina display maxed out with 4ghz i7, 8GB of RAM and a 3TB fusion drive! I don't need that much RAM but speed run.com has a streaming software that i can use for Mac. Plus I have a day off from Uni on the 26th so that will give me a whole day to stream the Steam version of New 'n' Tasty! Hopefully by the weekend after streaming my 100% play through, I'll be doing some any% runs of the game to try to beat my easy time.

How different are the easy and normal difficulty modes? (speedrunning wise) I know they let u damage boost past certain areas, making the game potentially faster, and carry more bombs, but do u think there will be any varitations route wise?

The easy run is like more straight forward than a hard mode speedrun because Abe doesn't get killed in one hit so he can carry on moving whilst getting damaged by Slig bullets.

yeah, but what about normal and easy. Not hard. Is the difference between normal and easy enough to justify having 2 seperate categories for them?

The health bar is different from easy and normal and Abe can survive longer in easy than he can in normal.

Some of the timings of hazards changes across difficulties too, such as Meat Grinders and the swinging rocks in Paramonian Temple. They're very subtle differences but they may affect your speedrun times.

Yeah, but those dont affect strategies. If I can carry 2 more rocks or bombs that totally flips my routing on its head, whereas timing a jump differently doesnt.

It just dawned on me that I never announced here that I did my first complete 100% run of the game. Did it about 20 minutes before picking up Evolve. Got a 2:14:24. Real time, not in game. In game it was like 1 hour 50 or something. Was pretty solid overall. Lost 4 mins on scrabania cuz I stuffed up a strat and had to do it the normal way, and I got the Zulag 3 cursed room lever glitch. As well as the infinite roll glitch. But I think sub 2 hour real time is very possible for hard 100%.

There has been a lot of glitch testing in the PC version and they will all be fixed.

Yeah, the games pretty solid. U wont find any backwards jumping or death glitches here. I was looking to find a sequence break into Freefire zone early, but to no avail. Guess were just gonna have to optimise movement and routing to save time, until someone finds a consistent way to do the Walk on air glitch.

I created a video to showcase alot of the tricks I use in my 100% route, to help anyone wanting to run the game when the PC version comes out. It leaves a few things out that either needs setup or was just a faster method of the normal route, like alot of the secret areas. But i think I got all of the major ones. I think its a neat video to show how far the game has come in the last 8 months.

Eekcast/Chubfish has found some glitches! There is a really cool glitch which would help any% runners and 100% runners! You can cause lag whilst quick saving and quick loading in the PC version and you'll get this!

Yeah, Starwin posted that on Speedrun.com.

If its something that is viable in the run, and we cant do it on PS4, then the categories must be immediately split.

Eekcast tells me using these glitches will still be any%, not a low%. If only Paramonia and Scrabania could be skipped like in the Oddysee any% run it would feel like speed running Abe's Oddysee! i'm gonna be streaming later on and I'll be showing off those glitches on Twitch for practise and route planning.

As it is now ps4 and PC are still the same category, so itll be unfair to ps4 runners (or other consoles as well) to rank them together. unless we make a No quiksave lagg category.

I’m no expert on speed running, but surely a glitch that involves loading prior saves would not be useable?

We use quiksaves in the run. Otherwise this game would have no runners, cuz it would be absolutely unbearable. Some of the tricks we do are risky. Strangers wrath runners also allow quicksaving.

Saving and loading is okay in a run as long as its a part of the run. Some games have u save and load to skip cutscenes, or avoid minutes of backtracking.

No one has been able to do a proper run of this game deathless yet. I think Starwin made it to Scrabania once.

Why does this thread have 24k views?

Also i got a new World record in 100% hard. Videos in video thread.

That video thread means this thread isnt going to see much more use. Since weve relocated to the Oddworld subforum on speedrun.com.
Ill still update this thread whenever I PB though, in case runners stop by so i can point them to speedrun.com or the video thread.

Thanks! Now Im going to be routing a category i came up with a while back. 50%. Beat the game rescuing just enough mudokons for the good ending. Itll open up alot of options for different runners, since 150/299 lets u be selective of which ones YOU think is fastest. Itll be harder to route, but it should only be about 1 1/2 hours I reckon.

Heres the run for those who dont wanna go to the video thread:
