I GREW UP ON THEM
Dude, even I can say I didn't grow up on the LoTR movies.

In retrospect, I don't hate them, but between OANST's hating and Jordan's (my friend, not the member) absolute adoration of them, I'm kind of sick of hearing about them.

Although in OANST's defense, I'm pretty sure I asked him why he didn't like them a few times.

I......didn't give a shit. I found myself not being involved at all with the film, and just sort of shrugged and changed the channel when it was over. Maybe because what was going to happen was so obvious. Or it's just that I've seen too many holocaust films. I dunno.

It didn't do a damn thing for me. There were also a lot of glaring plot holes that made the film difficult to enjoy for me.

I've seen some fantastic holocaust films that left me deeply affected. The Grey Zone was very good, for instance.

Sendak has been raving about it. Plus, it's made by Spike Jonze. I really don't think that it will be bad.

I think Schindler's List is the definitive Holocaust movie, although I'm sure there are people who bash it simply because it's popular, and therefore films with mass appeal can't be good.

Defiance was a decent Holocaust movie, although I think Daniel Craig is too robotic to be able to get to know the character.

Everyone is under the impression that Daniel Craig is some sort of genius for portraying Bond as a tough-guy, no-bullshit ruthless son of a bitch with no questions asked. I don't think this was some amazing artistic licence taken by Craig, I think it's simply that the man's a boring fucker who can't show any emotion, happy or sad, in real life, therefore he doesn't know how to do it with his characters.

I think that I really don't care how Craig portrays bond.

However, by coincidence, his portrayal is much closer to the original books than the previous films.

It's the least favorite, but it still is a Pixar film. On Rotten Tomatoes Cars is the lowest rated, and it has a 80-something.

What I'm saying is I've got no reason to judge how Craig acts, but I happen to know his is more accurate to the novels because I read it in the paper.

For the record, Craig is my favourite Bond. I just don't think the character of Bond appears to be any different from the man playing him.

I think the LotR films did pretty well for a book that was so complicated in plot and scenery that was so difficult to portray.

But do you think it's him being accurate to the novels or rather the writers trying to be true to Fleming's original intent?

It's not that people in general don't like it; it just really seems to divide people. People seem to either love it or hate it; I fall in the first camp.

I think Pixar has, to some extent, been a victim of their own success. If Cars had been released before Finding Nemo, it would probably be much more popular. The problem is that Finding Nemo is so universally loved (and The Incredibles, to a lesser but still impressive extent) so that nothing afterwards can really match up.

And, for what it's worth, I think that Cars is a much better film than Ratatouille.

The problem, Leto, is I no longer trust that the opinions you state are the ones you actually hold.

As for me, I like the Incredibles as an exciting and amusing film, but I don't think I felt that way until the second time I watched it.

Cars I went in with low expectations (based on the terrible trailers) and ended up enjoying it immensely.

Ratatouille I went in with very low expectations and enjoyed it as a good film - not a great one, but a good one. If it were anyone but Pixar, I would have been impressed.

Wall-E I went in with very high expectations and it didn't quite meet them. Not to say it wasn't great; it just wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

Up was a pretty good film and quite sweet in it's emotional theme-ology.
