Stubbs the Zombie - Cinema Trailer

Well, Stubbs has been known of for a while now, but because (and only because!) this forum is here, I thought I'd make a thread on the game. Pointing you towards some goodies.

Naturally, the game looks aweome. You play as a Zombie, and, erm, kill people. Initially this reminded me of Destroy all Humans, but I gather it's fairly different.

Initial impressions is it looks funny, but it's basically another version of Destroy All Humans. Look at the features. It doesn't really offer anything different or interesting.

I'm beginning... no... I'm already bored with games who's only task is "shoot gun to kill". I just really don't enjoy arcade style games, and it annoys me when I see games like that because I know that my PC is already capable of doing way more... take Splintercell for example. And even Splintercell isn't exploring it's full potential.

Even if they offer inovative ways of doing the same thing (killing people) it still doesn't impress me... there's so much unexplored potential and already the games industry is stagnating into rehash rehash rehash. It's annoying. I'd like to see some games that offer something different rather than the same old replayed crap.

I'm really looking forward to Stubbs.

Not only am I a (blatantly) huge fan of zombie stuff, the game just looks funny. Ha-ha funny. It's going to be a definite "buy" for me.

Hey, didn't Lorne work on this game? Or am I just imagining things?

Yeah. But one thing Destroy All Humans didnt have... Zombies. All of theses games are just GTA minus the story mission bit. And isn't that the only reason anyone plays GTA?

I love Stubbs. I didn't even know it had a cinema trailer... Damn international advertising. Looks really good, though.

I agree with everything except the Splinter Cell bit. Ubisoft shoots one out of their ass every 8 months. And since one, what advancements have there been? Multiplayer? Meh. I like Metal Gear Solid better. Go Nihon!

On the topic of zombies, HOLY CRAP. I didn't know George Romero was doing a game. <3 u for the news, Searex. AND its a first person shooter. I will make love to this game when it is released.

Oh trust me it isn't. Millions upon millions of people simply play the storyline so they can unlock the faster cars and everything else on the next island without having the home guard chasing after them. Seriously I know so many people who played that game simply because they enjoyed screwing around.

I'd be inclined to agree with their logic. GTA has such a weak storyline that it's hardly worth the effort involved to actually complete it.

And as for Ubisoft, the fact that they chuck out games so often is because they're a publisher as well as a developer. They didn't make Splinter Cell in a few days just to fit in the next game, the people who did create the masterpiece took their time with it and it shows, because the attention to detail is amazing, and I think that if you can find it in you to still supply the love to Halo you should definately be paying some serious homage to what is a far superior game. And don't start comparing it to that shitfest Metal Gear, that's such an old comparison and such a glaringly incorrect one too. Splinter Cell was ahead of it's time, Metal Gear was late and missed the goddamn bus.

Seriously, I don't know what to say about this game, except, wow, how crap. They've junked together something I could've thought up in under a minute, drawn up on the limited blank space available on a card beer coaster, and made by using a simple FPS engine modified to accommodate the code for possessing people using a detatchable hand, which I might add is a shameless whoring of the thing from The Addams Family.

I'd say if you were going to get this, get an illegal copy, because it'll last you five minutes before, like chewing gum, the taste wears off and you've got to throw it in the bin before your mouth ends up tasting like food grade plastic.

Anyway, back to Stubbs. The trailer (both of them) make the game look very interesting. I've recently picked up a fascination with zombies and the like so I think this game will be quite good. I'll definately get it (providing I have money when it comes out).

Metal Gear Solid has always been geared (no pun intended) more toward superficial arcade action with an involving, yet sometimes convoluted, plot consisting of lies, corruption, and political intrigue.

SC is the exact opposite. It goes for realistic, tense action, while the story doesn't amount to shit. I never really cared why Sam Fisher was where ever he was. All I know is I have to go to so-and-so and talk to so-and-so while snapping all the necks I can on the way.

It's really just a preference. SC's innovative multiplayer is worth mention, though.

SC's storyline is crap because it's a Tom Clancy novel! Esus was telling me earlier that Dan Brown was formulaic, but really it's Tom Clancy who deserves that title.

no it's the head of Halo 1 that is working on this project... not the head of Oddworld

plus it uses the engine of Halo 1
how on earth do you want lorne to work on something like that?

And horrifically basic. Like something right out of counter strike. In fact to all intents and purposes it is the counter strike engine, only with the ability to drive vehicles.

Still, despite all it's crappyness, I'll probably rent it just to see what it's like.

That is what I think will bring about a sort of "gaming revolution" in which all the bigtime games developers will experience a self inflicted economic crash due to stupidly reduced unit sales. This will allow low key developers with decent ideas to take the center stage, and start selling to gamers who are fed up with all the boring games being churned out by the various bigtimers.

Halo 2 actually.
Halo 2 uses a largely unmodified Halo 1 game engine. They only modified the Halo 1 engine to allow weapon dueling, swords, and one or two other bits and pieces like the ability to fly the wraith.

I agree with you 100% on this. The amount of crappy games out there now is shocking, run here, pick this up, shoot this...repeat...talk to him/her/it...repeat. 'X-men Legends' is rife with this, but the only good thing about it is the storyline, which is just uberness awesomivity (though that's probably because it has Magneto in, and he says "...for trial under mutant law" which is just the best line in the game).

If a game has a good story and has decent gameplay, i'll keep it, but that means my game collection is quite poop. 20 games, more or less. And i'm still waiting for a game to use the whole 'Replay and direct' feature that the Driver series has, imagine that feature in the next Hitman game. Yum!

Will rent. This seems consigned to Stranger's fate, though. By that I mean brilliantly acclaimed and a solid 8 or 9 but slashed to 30 or 20 dollars within months of its initial release. Ah well, other people's stupidity is my cash savings, I guess.
