It's sort of goes against nature even if you want to take god out of the equation. Although, I suppose it would be interesting to see half man, half tigers.
Like I said before, yes it goes against nature. I won't deny that. But that doesn't mean it's by definition morally wrong. The human race has done more things then I can count that go directly against nature so I don't think this is a big matter. Personally I find shooting animals for fun instead of food and stuff a worse case of going against nature then having sex with one and letting it live...

But the shame it has to live through! It'll be cast out from it's family and forced to work the street!

For most people, when confronting animals, they generally have more choices than 'rape or kill'. There's also things like 'pat it' and 'walk away', so you can't really justify it like that.

Oh yea I'd love to see that in a Sims game. (Sorry, couldn't resist ).

I know what you mean Faci but I was just naming an example. If the animal is in consent with whatever you're doing then moraly there shouldn't be anything wrong with it. For nature it might be wrong but that's something both parties are to blame in if, afterall, the animal agrees to what is going on .

I agree. There have been worse things that we as humans have done to other humans. I don't think this can be defined as morally wrong, since, as Havoc said, the animal might not have anything against the act, and may even enjoy it. If it's not hurting anyone, then it can't possibly be morally wrong.

And what's more, Bitter Buffalo, there would never be half-man, half-tigers. As I've said before, you can't interbreed with another phyla of the animal kingdom. Humans can only mate with humans to create offspring. If a human were to amte with, let's say, a tiger, then nothing would happen as a result, as the DNA of a human and tiger are not similar enough to create an offspring. However, if you were to take a horse and a donkey, a mule would be their offspring, since their DNA is indeed similar enough to create an offspring. However, the consequences of the two animals mating is that the mule is rendered infertile, and cannot produce any offspring as a result.

I'm not sure what the verdict is on that theory. Either it is possible and never been tried, or not possible because of an evolutionary gap. Either way Snuzi explained it right, only animals from the same 'family' can interbreed. Large families such as a cats (Ligers are teh ownage), dogs and horses for instance.

:

Actualy that is not always the case. Hybrid offspring isn't always by default infertile. Quite often the males are, but the females are mostly able to conceive from any fertile male.

Usually they are infertile, as a consequence of the chromosomes not matching up, meaning meiosis cannot take place. However, in plants, polyploidism can occur: the doubling of chromosomes. This is usually fatal in animals, but in plants it means hybrids can be made to be fertile, and is frequently a force behind plant evolution, as new species are frequent.

Though last year a new species of blue butterfly was observed to emerge by hybridisation.

Well there exist 1/4 Tigons or Ligers for example, which are created from breeding a tiger with a liger or a lion with a tigon.

Yes, I always wondered about that.

Though You are still making hybrids. The rare occasion is when both male and female versions of the hybrid can reproduce together, and the offspring are similar to their hybridised parents. Then you have a new species.

An interesting point on this off-topic tangent: White headed and ruddy ducks. When hybridised, all the offspring are ruddy. Although genetically different, it appears that the two species had not fully diverged. Usually hey would have met each other, but the ruddy is now an invasive species... I think in Spain, though I'm not sure.

It is though that the early Homo lineage diverged and hybridised with the early Pan lineage, (back then the same genus) several times before the definite split finally occurred. There is some evidence that H. sapiens bred with Neanderthals, and that we could still carry immediate Neanderthal genes that we have inherited all these years.

I am writing a book from an "Insiders Perspective" and if I may, I would like to
