I watched Total Recall, the 1990 one, and it was crazy intense fun. None of the gunplay made any sense, but goddamn I loved it. It's a simple story with some fun twists and intense moments. I love so many things about the practical effects and costumes.

Funnily enough I also saw Robocop (1987) a month or so ago, but didn't connect the directors until I was part way through Total Recall. I loved Robocop for very similar reasons, and it might actually be the most I've ever enjoyed an action movie. It's basic story telling with a few twists, some crazy over the top action and interesting enough characters to emotionally invest the viewer. Top that off with a charming world and you have a really solid movie.

I think if more movies were like those two it would be bad, but they're executed really well for what they are. I strongly recommend them if, like me, you live under a rock.

Ok is there actually bear rape in this movie? I was thinking about going to see it but my friend is adamant that there is bear rape in there, and I'm not touching it if that's true.
Scared of bears or something?

Just downloded and watched Ant-Man like the pirate I am (arr!) and I liked it. It was fun. And the ending sequence, with the animations was great too.

If you liked it, it would be right to support the makers with the money they deserve for making a fun movie, right?

Keeping on the Verhoeven kick, I watched Basic Instinct. It's an interesting movie to discuss, and I don't really know how I feel about it.

The movie does some really cool stuff. Some scenes have nice camera work, or fun dialogue. The main character had interesting traits. There were genuinely engaging and quirky moments.

The famous interrogation scene was fun. It was stupid and threw my suspension of disbelief out the window, but I thought it was entertaining. Where was she putting all of those damn cigarettes?

I think the thing I enjoyed about this movie was that the main character was basically on a rail. He just didn't give a fuck about his life, and let himself play the game. The buildup to him being the unstable "shooter" paid off in a cool way.

I'm glad I watched Basic Instinct after Robocop and Total Recall, because it's a similar kind of dumb. The difference is that this movie sets out to be more, and doesn't benefit from the crazy extreme characters in the same way an action movie does. Stone's character was just too much of a Manic Crazy Temptress Lesbian, and I didn't think I'd ever say those words.

I don't rate it well, but I enjoyed it. I won't be watching it again.

Yesterday I watched Mean Girls. I liked it and I honestly have no idea how I managed to miss it for twelve years. Well, except a part at the end I saw on TV long ago.

I've been watching a lot of Parks and Rec lately, and I love it. So far I got to Season 5 and I really love the Ben - April, umm, I forgot the word for it really. But they're really funny together. Really, I think I like everyone on that show. April and Andy were becoming obnoxious but they did a great job toning that down, and I can't not root for Leslie.

Watched First Blood. Really digging fucking stupid 80s movies at the moment.

Is it normal to laugh at the end when Rambo breaks down? It's just so hard to take Stallone seriously when he's not being Action Man™. It was fun though, and I'm keen to get on to part 2.

Started watching Star Wars: Rebels due to my obsession with figuring out the lore of the franchise.

Much like the Clone Wars, You can certainly tell it's a show for older kids. But that doesn't stop it having some darker moments now and then. However unlike the Clone Wars, I've yet to see a boring filler episode.

I like it. I don't love it. Most of the characters don't have that connection with me yet so we'll have to see. I've heard the show gets really good towards the series finale and into Season 2.

Recently finished season 3 of Orange is the new black. I just binged it from the start with my girlfriend in about a week. Really cool show and awesome characters. Moved on to Game of Thrones (up to season 4, fuck season 3!) and House M.D. Both really awesome shows. I've got nothing better to do with my time before this semester starts.

Was this your first time watching Rambo? I love the start where he's basically just being an angsty teen but then you realise shit gets real very quick. I laugh every time Sylvester Stallone screams and cries. Good stuff.

I watched BoJack last summer. It's a great show. Depressing as fuck, and it made me introspect a lot.

I've also just finished watching Master of None. It's a comedy-drama created by Aziz Ansari and it's really good.

Deadpool.

I didn't see or hear anything about the movie or know anything about the character at all. I just got told i'd love him. And they weren't wrong. Deadpool is frigging amazing.

The film was everything I wanted and more. It was brilliant. The film nailed every. single. joke. And Ryan Reynolds was born to play Deadpool.

One of the best "Super Hero" films I've ever seen. Just go watch it.

Fun Fact: Deadpool is rated 15 in the UK. I'm unsure how they got away with that...

I saw Deadpool the other night. Not bad. It definitely had some really funny moments, and Ryan Reynolds really nailed it. But I can totally understand not being interested in it. I always thought Deadpool's whole fourth wall breaking shtick was really lame and tired, and I was afraid that the movie was going to be shit because of that, but fortunately I didn't find it that grating overall. It's still used a lot throughout the movie, though.

It's pretty damn juvenile too, and some of the jokes were 'eh', but it was entertaining regardless. Wouldn't say it's a 'must see' though.

It's really hard to make a good meta comedy. There are many failed attempts on Deadpool.

They nailed it in the game.

Too bad they didn't nail the gameplay.

Never found Deadpool particularly funny but I'm going to go see it in March, it's not out in Japan until August or some shit so have to wait until I go to Singapore.

Hopefully the film will be entertaining although ASR nailed why I don't really like him.
