Pretty hyped. Hoenn is probably my favourite region geographically speaking. So much stuff hidden around, lots of variety in the landscapes. I'm giddy just trying to describe the scope of the place.

I haven't played Gen 5 yet but yeah it's easily my favourite main-game world. The third generation gets a lot of shit though so maybe I'm just blinded by nostalgia. But dammit, that region just makes me wanna go on an adventure.

Hoenn is definitely the most ambitious map, but to fully realize its potential then Gamefreak would need to do a lot of shit they obviously won't do to make the water sections more interesting.

How many dungeons are you through? The Goron and Zora sections are less obviously dark but the Ikana section is pitch black.
Currently only one, the Deku dungeon. It was kind of similar in theme to Dodongo's Cavern from OoT, I suppose

Speaking of Nintendo, the new Pokemon games come out at the end of this month.

I never played the original Ruby and Sapphire, how hyped should I be?
:
Gen III is best gen because it's the one I grew up with. Anyone who claims to have a different reason for their preference is probably lying.

Nonetheless, I like it for having quirky, less cute designs that looked like something that might actually live in tall grass/caves/rock pools somewhere. And Route 111, which is basically the best thing ever.

Gen III was pretty great. The pokemon were nicely designed and the map was pretty huge for a GBA game. The only sections I disliked were the huge water areas where you have to surf for ages. For the love of god buy repels.

I still don't understand how MM is slightly older than me, but I identify as growing up with Gen II.

What about how I identify as growing up with Gen III despite my only childhood play experience of Pokémon being four hours of Gold at a friend's house?

Basically, my prevailing childhood memories of Pokémon are at primary school (5-12) watching a grey-haired kid several years my junior called Essa or Oscar or something playing Emerald on his GameBoy Advance. My parents wouldn't get me one, so I just had to imagine how fun it must be.

About 9 years later I emulated it and it was everything I'd ever wanted.

gen 3 was always my favourite growing up. I dont remember gen 1 as I was too young to understand it (pokemons pretty complex), and I didnt play gen 2 until they remade it. Sapphire and emerald is where most of my childhood time was spent. And Dynasty warriors, but thats unrelated.

It looks like a B-grade action platformer. I wonder if that's because it actually is a B-grade action platformer or if it's a proper Adventure with a trailer that was edited to look like a B-grade action platformer.

Day of the Tentacle: Special Edition sounds like a good idea, but the Monkey Island Special Editions looked like the characters were just imported screenshots from a 3D game. They had better not screw this up.

Star Wars Battlefront will have a open beta test on the 8th-12th October

I'm still really pessimistic about the game. But I'm eager to try out the beta.

I'm surprised nobody's been talking about it yet:

Crash is back! In the newly remastered edition of the first three games gameplay appears to be 1:1 the same, which is a very good thing. The new models look quite nice, too.

I don't know what to feel about the lightning, though. It's definitely dominated by soft lights that kill dark scenes like:

That's my thoughts. What's yours?

EDIT: New video:

I'm pretty psyched about it actually. Listening to the soundtrack again just made me hyped and they've captured a lot of the old stuff in this demo. graphics are neat, music is on point, sound effects are all there (nit picking on the wumpa fruit sound) and the animations look decent. You're 100% right about the lighting. I think needs to be more ominous in some sections like the temples and such, but overall I'm really happy with its direction. It's even holding the same level of difficulty too which I'm hoping stays constant Can't wait to see what happens next, not just for crash but any old titles that might see the light of day again with the same treatment as this game.

With soulstorm on the way I really hope they keep looking back and doing this type of stuff. I'd adore a remastered medievil or unholy war. Hell, I think parapa is getting something done too.

I do agree that the OST sounds cool. Dunno if it was remade from scratch to sound like original or just remastered, though.

I did a video of me talking about the trailer.
PLUGPLUGPLUG

I was pretty cautiously optimistic about the reboot. After all, it is Activision. Even if the E3 announcement did make me well up, I needed to see some footage before I went overboard with the hype.

...Well now the hype is real, Because I am VERY happy with it so far. I think they've nailed the look, sound and style of the original game, whilst adding their own little take on it. If you think the game looks a little slow, go watch the gameplay. it's much better.

They mentioned in this dev talk and in this article that they are still working on it, and the devs are very, VERY cautious not to mess it up.

Could not be happier that the Bandicoot is back. Now all we need is Spyro remastered and my holy childhood trinity will be complete!
